Overview

We have a large amount of quarrys of varied types ready to go and willing members who will teach others the ropes of prospecting.

Location

We are located at 4384 -740. Between Chariot Site and School of Harmony. Fbcq.JPG

Donation

Donations of slate, boards and Perception/Endurance Herbs would be useful and greatly appreciated.

Goals

  • Give all players a chance to get marble and granite by working for it.
  • Share know-how with others, thus spreading the knowledge.
  • Make a trade pool for granite and marble.

Ranks and their Functionality

  • Elders : founders and guild managers
    • Am-Khaibitu (founder)
    • Bobophet (elder grandson)
    • lacy (elder granddaughter)
    • Nao (elder granddaughter)
    • Pascalito (founder grandson)
  • Patriarch : prospection leader (can lead a prospection team, even with a partner who never prospected) and some of next skills
  • Fellow : salvage (salvage 4 or better required) and some of next skills
  • Kinsman : cook (cooking 4 resuired) and some of next skills
  • Member : quarry working leader (be able to instruct others how to work a quarry) and next skill
  • Associate : help with prospecting and/or working quarries
  • Non-members : may prospect with a member and/or work a quarry with a member and are eligible for the corresponding share of marble raised. Non-members are not eligible to trade with the guild stocks.
As a courtesy, please seek a prospecting partner or quarry team in Guild Chat before opening up to non-members.

Practical Matters

Loot Sharing

  1. Guild gets first marble or granite quarried from a virgin mine.
  2. Prospectors (2) + Workers (4 – even if gearbox is used) will split marble quarried evenly with remainder split per below:
Gearbox share goes back to Guild
  3. Remainder Split (max of 5)
5 marble or granite - Quarriers get 1 each, guild gets 1
4 marble or granite - Quarriers get 1 each
3 marble or granite - Prospectors get 1 each, guild gets 1
2 marble or granite - Prospectors get 1 each
1 marble or granite -Guild gets 1

Guild Marble may be traded for based on Rates on Pascal's Info Page.

If you prefer to prospect but not work quarries, leave a chat for an elder as to gearbox specs and quarry coords and you will receive your share of the loot when quarry is worked.

Note - 2/19/09 - tehmoosh's loot proposal formally enacted, replacing prior system.

Guild Trade Pool

All guild members can trade marble/granite with the pool based on the value.

Contact a Fellow or higher to arrange for a trade.

Prospected Zones for Specific Types of Marble and Granite

Prospecting Techniques

Preparing

Each prospector tunes to a type of marble at SArch, they can be different (if you're both tuned to same, do not prospect both when looking for a good spot). Make sure you have the required Perception do do this and to prospect.

Each prospector brings slate to prospect.

Bring or take materials for the planned number of quarries (materials chest at Guild Compound) + 4 boards. A stone quarry costs 100 Bricks, 25 Slate, 15 Rope and 2 Pulleys to build.

A good view is double F8 : it orients top of screen to N and gives good overview to move around, and with minimized chat the arrow keys are a great way to move in cardinal directions and diagonally by holding 2 arrows down.

Watch out for nearby other players, since you prospect in area that is a circle in between you and nearest player !

The prospection leader will typically give the orders to his partner to move to a spot and when to prospect.

Find zone with desired granite/marble

Find open terrain with no other players around and stand at a distance of 30 coordinates in N-S as well as in E-W direction (example : at 2130, 2550 and 2160, 2520).

If two pieces of slate shatter for 1 or both prospectors, start spiraling; if not both move 30 coords in N, E, S or W direction and prospect new zone.

Flow chart of Spiraling technique to close in the spot

  • 0. only the player who had 2 slate shattered keeps prospecting till the spot has been found, he is called "prospection leader" from here on
  • 1. prospection leader moves towards partner half the distance (example : to 2145, 2535)
  • 2. prospection partner moves to a distance of 21 from leader in N, E, S or W direction (typically move to nearest spot in clockwise direction)
  • 3. prospect
  • 4. if 1 shatters, move clockwise to next spot at same distance, go to 3
  • 5. if 2 shatter and distance is exactly 2, go to 8
  • 6. if 2 shatter and distance, prospection leader moves straight to partner to reduce distance to next value in this list : 21, 15, 11, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1; for best results the prospection leader tries to stand near middle of coordinate square, partner tries to stand near square edge at highest distance of leader
  • 7. go to 3
  • 8. at distance 1 with 2 shattered, there should be 2 coordinate square corners left between leader and partner, one of these corners is where you have to build SPOT ON; stand near a corner, 1 player at each side diagonally, and prospect till you find the right corner
  • 9. locate the exact location of the corner: build a brick rack (but do NOT click the build option, cause you want to move the brick rack around), move the brick rack around till the SW corner is exactly in corner of coordinate square (stand just west and just south of the rack under construction to test if location is right, move it if necessary)
  • 10. click AS NEAR AS POSSIBLE to SW corner of the brick rack to go to that spot (don't mind the graphics if you seem not to stand exactly there after clicking)
  • 11. cancel building of the brick rack
  • 12. build the stone quarry
  • 13. tranfer ownership of the quarry to the guild and add type, coordinates and gear sizes to this wiki page, or chat those to an elder

Work Techniques

  • Work leader picks up the gearbox(es) for the quarry(ies) he plans to work on (if any).
  • Work leader installs the gearbox.
  • Alphabetic method : each worker sorts the options alphabetically, each worker clicks the Nth option of that sorted list. There will be usually 3 workers, sometimes 4 if the required gearbox is not available and very expensive to make. This method is fast (no chat needed, just concentration) with high Endurance. After clicking the work option, click on the pinned window title frequently to refresh it and to see the new options as fast as possible, you don't have to wait for the animation to complete.
  • After collapse or when work is stopped, remove the gearbox. Notify Elder to update this Wiki page with the result and who participated (or do it yourself if familiar with updating). Take the loot and give the shares. Deposit prospector's/cook's share in appropriate box if he/she is not present. Stash odd undividable pieces of marble/granite in the Trade Pool Box.

Salvaging

Fellows or higher ranked members will regularly check for collapsed quarries and go salvage them. A sign (10 wood, 4 boards, 2 rope) is built where the salvaged materials are dropped with text "<marble type> quarry was here", this will let others know there is an empty vein under the sign (empty veins STILL give 2 shattered when prospecting).

DO NOT FORGET TO REMOVE THE GEARBOX BEFORE SALVAGING PLEASE.

Update the wiki or notify an Elder to update this Wiki page.

Food

  • Prospect food:
    • Meal 1
    • Meal 2
  • Prospect Ground Herbs (added to current food stats, and inherits duration of food eaten; so eat from kitchen first, then eat the herb) potency will vary over time :
    • Herb 1 +STAT/-STAT/+STAT
    • Herb 2 +STAT/-STAT/+STAT
    • Herb 3 +STAT/-STAT/+STAT
    • Herb 4 +STAT/-STAT/+STAT
    • Herb 5 +STAT/-STAT/+STAT
  • Work Food:
    • Meal 1

Gearboxes

An assembly table will be available near Guild Hall.

A Gearbox is worth 300% of marble in return if it had 3 outputs. Please try to make outputs we don't have yet. And that can serve multiple quarries if possible.
