-Several generations ago, my great-grandmother immigrated into Egypt from an unknown land and arrived in the large area known then, as now, as Sinai.  Although it wasn't split into different regions then - the entire peninsula was the great region of Sinai. It was a quiet existence for her both because Sinai was a large, lonely area far removed from the other areas of Egypt and because she met no special person to share her labor with, no one to share her triumphs with.  The trials and hardships of starting a new life quickly aged my great-grandmother.   While there were many good people there to work with, including a good guild led by a generous man, there was still a hole in her life.  Heart breaking with loneliness, she passed on after only several months never to see what heights Egypt could achieve.  She also left behind an adopted child to be raised outside the borders of our great country.

-That child grew up on the wondrous tales of Egypt; imagining the land in all it's glory, power, and wealth.  When my grandmother Choltai heard this land was once again ready to receive new citizens she went eagerly, traveling with only the clothes on her back, dreaming of starting an exciting new adventure and life.  Working hard to help the community grow, Choltai quickly gained friends.  It was at a research dig where she unexpectedly met a bare-chested man who was removed from Sinai by the authorities.  He was leader of a group named Sinai Exiles.  My grandmother petitioned to join since her mother had felt exiled in such a lonely place, and Choltai had vowed never to set foot in the place that broke her mother's heart.  On a whim, my grandmother and this man decided to marry under the eyes of the Gods and blessings of their friends.  They worked well together but soon found the central region they were living in too crowded and full of drama.  They moved to the southernmost of Egypt, within 30 seconds of the lower border, in a sparsely populated region.  Having now willingly removed themselves from civilization and all it's comforts and advances, they settled a camp called Exile's Retreat.  They built themselves a mansion and grounds of unsurpassed beauty.  They wanted for nothing: anything they needed they made or traded for.  The bright future stretched ahead.

 So dear reader, as you can see there are no shortages of exiles whether made of outside devices or made of our own doing.  It is to honor these memories that Exile's Retreat is founded.
