So you’ve reached level 8 and picked up your Test of the Bureaucrat principles tab. To pass bureau principles, you will need to get hired into a bureau and then hire one more person. This is a guide to the basics of bureau, written for people thinking of joining Towering Palm Society (TPS) bureau guild.

Test of the bureaucrat is a leadership test, and it’s all about organizing and hiring trusted people into a structured team. You earn points based on the number of people recruited below you in the bureaucracy. TPS guild was formed to help its members set up and fill bureaus more easily. TPS members are people with an interest in the test (some to pass the test, others just to help out and pass principles, others who have already passed and stay to help others). Members agree not to seize bureaus and to hire people only from the TPS approved hiring list (to try and avoid seizures happening).

A bureau is built by someone who has earned a bureau opportunity by collecting signatures. They are the executive of their bureau and can hire 3 directors. Each director can then hire 3 people beneath them and so on down the structure (Executive, director, administrator, manager, supervisor, foreman, worker). In TPS, worker positions are taken by people who have already passed the test, and by mules. As a new guild member, you will usually be a foreman in your first bureau.
