= Citizenship Walkthrough =

== Step 1 - Location, Location, Location ==
Get thee to an area with both a School of Architecture and a School of Art. Hit your <b>F3</b> key. Do you see an S Arch and S Art (indicated by a red dot) near your arrow icon (indicated by a oxblood arrow in the center of the map)? If not, you need to either use one of your free starting location teleports to someone who is or find a Chariot (also indicated on your F3 map) and head to Four Corners (can be reached from the Midland Valley Chariot Stop.)

[[File:F3.jpg]]
<br>
''Above: Your F3 in-game map (you are the arrow)''
<br>

[[File:Chariot.jpg]]
<br>
''Above: A Chariot Stop''
<br>

=== Step 1 Logistics ===
Still can't find where to go? You can chat a friend or me (Dreasimy) by typing /chat Dreasimy (or insert the name of your friend in place of 'Dreasimy'). Don't know anyone? Type "/join L2PBS" without the quotes. This is a global, moderated chat. Click on that tab and type that you need to get to a good location for Citizenship with a School of Arch and Art. You can usually find someone to 'teleport' to this way, or someone will come rescue you wherever you had the misfortune to start the game so far from everything useful.

==Step 2 - The Checklist Begins==
OK hopefully you are now in a good place to complete the Citizenship tab in the lower left corner of your screen. It is a laundry list of things you MUST do to attain level 1 and begin your career as an Egyptian citizen. Below is a streamlined list of what to do:

=== A - Collect 50 [[Slate]] ===
[[File:SlateIcon.png]]
<br>Collect 50 [[Slate]]. This is found by walking to the edge of a body of water and inch around along the shoreline until you see an icon in the top corner of your screen that depicts a hammer and a little bit of stone. If that icon is showing stand still and click it. This will let you pick up 1 slate. Keep moving until you see another Slate icon, stop, click, rinse repeat until you have 50 slate in your inventory (Items Tab). This is arguably the least fun part of citizenship, get it over with! :D

Pro Tip: Walk, don't run. <b>Click your Avatar>Emote>Gait: Walking</b> this puts your toon in walking mode which some folks
find it easier to collect slate. Whether running or walking, right clicking your mouse will stop you mid-stride which helps
when you need to stop immediately because you walked onto a slate spot. To get back into normal running mode <b>
Click your Avatar>Emote>Gait: Running</b>

=== B - Collect 60 [[wood|Wood]] ===
Collect 60 [[wood]] by walking up to every tree you see and clicking on it. Select the button to Gather Wood from the tree. If you want to eliminate that button push, click your avatar then select Options > One Click and Related > Check the box for Fast Gather wood from trees.

=== C - Learn [[Stone Blade Fabrication]] ===
Go to the School of Architecture and learn the skill [[Stone Blade Fabrication]] (this costs you 7 of your slate.)

=== D - Make [[Stone Blade|Stone Blades]] ===
Now you can attempt to turn 38 of your slate into stone blades by clicking your <b>avatar > Skills > Forge Stone Blade</b> over and over until you have used up <b>ALL BUT 4 of your slate</b>.

=== E - Learn [[Carpentry]] ===
Now go back to the School of Architecture and learn the skill [[Carpentry]]

=== F - Build your first Building & Make Some [[Boards]] ===
At this point, it's important to note that Egypt is a big place with lots of room. People won't thank you for building a wood plane or
other stuff in the middle of what they have developed as their 'camp'. Even though the items you build while completing your Citizenship
tasks are meant to be temporary, to avoid conflict, it's best to try to build away from other people's stuff.

With that in mind, go to a spot near water and build a [[Wood Plane]] <b>(Click your avatar>Projects>Build a Wood Plane.)</b> The water isn't relevant to wood planes but you will need water later on and you might as well keep all your buildings in one place.

Plane all but 10 pieces of wood into [[Boards]].

=== G - Collect 46 [[Grass]] ===
[[File:GrassIcon.png]]
<br>Find yourself some green grass and run around on it, clicking the Grass Icon in the top corner of your screen.

=== H - Dry Grass into [[Straw]] ===
Drop your grass on the ground and wait for it to change color from green to tan. This means it has finished turning into Straw. Larger piles of grass take longer to dry. <b>(Click your avatar > Drop > Grass > Select how much grass you wish to drop in this pile.)</b> It takes approximately 4 minutes to dry a pile of 46 grass on the ground.

=== I - Learn [[Brick Rack Construction]] at School of Architecture ===
Costs 4 [[boards]]

=== J - Build your first Brick Rack ===
Head back to your wood plane and build yourself a brick rack (or more if you prefer a mass production approach to brick making)
Make 136 Bricks (
To be continued!

To accomplish these tasks, you will need to collect the following materials. (Some of the amounts vary depending on the breakage rate of your [[Wood Plane|plane]] and [[Flimsy Brick Rack|brick rack]]

=== K - Gather Sand and Mud ===
[[File:SandIcon.png]] [[File:MudIcon.png]]
<br>You need 23 [[Sand]] and 69 [[Mud]] (found near water's edge) to make your 136 Bricks.

=== L - Make 136 Bricks ===
With your 23 [[Sand]], 46 [[Straw]], and 69 [[Mud]], keep making bricks on your [[brick rack]] until you have 136 [[Bricks]].

=== M - Get Flax Seeds from School of Art ===
Just click the building and select Supplies > Ask for some [[flax seeds]]

=== N - Plant Flax Seeds and let them go WILD! ===
[[File:Flaxbed.jpg]]
<br>
<b>Click your avatar > Plant > Flax Seeds.</b>
Now watch your Flax Bed. After awhile you will see yellow weeds appear. Since this planting is for going WILD do not do anything with it just now. Those are weeds and since you are letting this planting go to 'seed' so you can harvest more seeds from it, you don't want to 'weed' this particular bed of flax. Once you've passed the point where you could have weeded it, you will start getting the option to Harvest Seeds from the Flax Bed. <i>You may then harvest seeds from the flax up to 5 times before it finally dies. When the plant dies, it will leave more seeds on the ground. It takes 1 Teppy Minute (about 1m 07s real time) for the Harvest option to reappear after harvesting a seed. </i> For more on Flax go here: [[Flax]]. You need 41 Flax Seeds so keep growing flax for seeds in this manner (and/or keep asking the School of Art for seeds) until you have 41.

=== O - Plant Flax Seeds for Fiber ===
Now it's time to plant flax and weed it before it goes to seed. For more on Flax planting go here: [[Flax]]. Keep planting until you have 20 flax.

=== P - Learn Flax Processing from the School of Art ===
Turn in your 20 flax at the Schoool of Art for Flax Processing. Continue to plant flax until you have another 21 Flax.

=== Q - Rot Flax in Water ===
[[File:Flaxbuoy.png]]
<br>
Head to the water's edge and click your avatar > Skills > Rot Flax in Water > (Rot all 21 of it.) This will put a buoy of flax in the water with a red flag on it. Once the flag turns white it is done rotting and you can gather it.

=== R - Learn Clothworking at School of Art===
Pay 20 [[Rotten Flax]] at the School of Art to learn the skill Clothworking.

=== S - Gather 60 [[Thorns]]===
Gather [[Thorns]] from Thorn-bearing plants. To find thorns, just click on different plants until you find some that have the 'Gather Thorns' option and keep collecting thorns until you have about 60.

=== T - Build your Flax Comb ===
Head back to your home base where your other buildings are and build yourself a Flax Comb <b>(click your avatar > Projects > Flax Related... > Build a Flax Comb)</b>

=== U - Process your 1 Rotten Flax on Flax Comb ===
Use your Flax Comb until you make Tow. Remove the Tow from the Flax Comb.

=== V - Build a Small Distaff ===
Build a Small Distaff by <b>clicking your Avatar > Projects > Flax Related > Build a Small Distaff</b>

=== W - Spin Tow into Twine on your Distaff ===
<b>Click the Small Distaff > Load the Distaff with Tow > Start Spinning Tow into Twine</b>

==Step 3 - Clean up! ==

Time to tear down all these contraptions you've built to make room for the next newbie! Once you tear down your Wood Plane you will be done and can begin you illustrious career as an Egyptian Citizen! Congratulations!

Egypt is home to dozens of species of wild [[mushrooms]]. The '''Test of Darkest Night''', one of the [[tests]] of the Discipline of the Human Body, is undertaken in 7 stages, and involves building your body's resistance to toxins found in freshly grown mushrooms. Doing so will also award permanent bonuses to your [[Constitution]] stat.

== Details ==
When you begin the test, you will be given an initial list of 5 randomly selected mushroom types to find and ingest fresh from the earth (you cannot use mushrooms already picked). You will have a new option when clicking on the mushroom, if that type of mushroom is on your current list.

Once you have eaten 7 each of '''ALL FIVE''' types on the list, you can turn it in to any UBody and receive a new list.

You must turn in '''multiple lists''' to pass the test.

=== Gaining Constitution ===
Handing in completed lists to the University results in permanent [[Constitution]] points.

|-
! Points || 2 || 1 || 0 || 2 || 0 || 1 || 1
|}

=== Passing ===
You pass the test upon reaching 7 permanent Constitution (after turning in your last list to the University).
you will be able to Grab 10 cobras from a pit every 14 days. you need 1 basket
you can transfer snakes from 1 pit to another with that, but the basket is consumed

=== Tips ===
* If you find mushrooms around low buildings like fountains, remember that ''Utility->Make nearby portables look like bags'' can come in handy.

* It's safe to have ''Auto-take piles of up to 50 portable items'' enabled with this test, you don't have to disable it to get the menu. However, leaving it enabled will mean that you still auto gather any mushrooms not on your list. If your ID skills are not that great, it may be good to turn off the option, so that you do not accidentally gather mushrooms that someone else may need.
Did you know: This test is NOT competitive, so please do consider posting your findings onto one of the databases above. This will help YOU find the mushroom you need later on, and also help others know the spawn points of the mushrooms. Feel free to pick up the mushrooms before posting above, as it's only a historical record rather than mushrooms people can find right at that minute.
== The Test of the Safari ==

=== Description ===

According to the official in-game information from the University of Body:

''In the Test of the Safari you will learn to track and capture seven species of Egyptian fauna. Each species has unique behaviors and tracking methods, and each must be accomplished four times. More information about each species can be found here.''

=== Complete the test ===

Capture/tag 4 of each kind of Egypt's animals (listed below).

=== Keeping track of progress ===

To review which animals you have captured/tagged:
#click on yourself (or press Esc)
#select Tests menu
#select Test of the Safari
#select Read my Log Book
A popup will appear, stating your finds and captures, and how many remain.

=== Strength bonus ===

You will get a +1 permanent [[Strength]] bonus for every 4 animals that you capture/tap/find (maximum 4 per type). So if you find 2 falcons and 2 fennecs, you should get a strength bonus. There are 7 animals, times 4, meaning that you can get a maximum bonus of +7 in this way. Strength bonus increases the ability to carry 500 more weight (not bulk) per 1 bonus point.

=== Bullfrogs ===

[http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale4/Bullfrog_Hunting_Guide Bullfrog Hunting Guide] - From Tale 4, but may be useful to you.

Also see [http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale4/Talk:Test_of_the_Safari the discussion page] for an alternate method that does not require being able to tell the direction of the frog or the relative loudness of different sounds spaced over a minute apart.

Official game info from University of Body:

''Bullfrogs exhibit almost perfect camouflage, but their distinctive sound gives them away. High Dexterity helps capture these creatures.''(It's actually Endurance that is needed to capture bullfrogs. -Rosie)

* Good food for Bullfrog hunting is HIGH on '''ENDURANCE''' for lowering cooldown between catching attempts and a fair amount of '''DEXTERITY''' for running.
* Bullfrogs only appear between '''6pm through 6am''' (evening/night, Egyptian time).
* Bullfrogs always live on the edge of water. This can be any type of water, like a pond, a lake, a river or a sea shore.
*To search for bullfrogs more effectively, try searching near a sea shore instead of river bank or small lake/pond. If you search at a river bank, consider the possibility that the bullfrog could be on the other side of the river. In both cases be aware that bullfrogs might be located on small islands in the river or off the coast that are within the hearing range but outside of your reach (even with a [[Ferry Boat]]).
*It helps to use stereo audio equipment (stereo headset/speakers) to pinpoint where the sound comes from (left/right) and determine the loudness of the sound better. The direction of the sound is based on your CAMERA position, not your character position.
*There are a number of different sounds, but they usually lead to the same bullfrog. Sounds usually play at least once per minute, sometimes more frequent.
*Go to the exact location where the sound is loudest and where a specific direction cannot be distinguished. You should be on top of the location of the bullfrog.
*Click on yourself (or press Esc key), go to Tests menu, select Test of the Safari, and click on "Capture a bullfrog."
*When the bullfrog is not captured, move around 1 or 2 coordinates and try again.
*Failing to catch a bullfrog uses the [[Stat Timers|endurance]] timer. There is no timer if you are successful in a capture attempt.
*Timer appears to have changed for T5 - frogs may reset at midnight Egyptian time. -Farnite

*For the hearing impaired or non-cooperative sound setups i found this buried in tale 2 http://www.darkwood.demon.co.uk/PC/meter.html <--- Link no longer exists [[User:Siara|Siara]] 16:56, 5 June 2015 (EST)
*This simple PC program will help http://windows-vu-meter.software.informer.com/download/ Use it's options to display as vertical, and "Always on top".

"Something I found quite useful is to carry a stock of cheap mats (grass, wood, etc). Place one where you first hear the bullfrog. Then travel in the direction of the sound a fair distance and drop another. Wait there until it sounds again. If the bullfrog is the other way, it must be between the two points - drop a third item in the middle and listen for the sound again. If it's further on, place another item a good distance in that direction. Repeat until you narrow it down to a very local area, and you should be able to catch it quite easily." - [[User:Artinum|Artinum]]
=== Desert Rats ===

Official game info from University of Body:

''Fast-moving Desert Rats blend perfectly with Egypt's terrain, but their distinctive tracks will lead to them every time. Be aware that the wind will cover up tracks over time.''

<gallery>
Image:footprints.jpg|footprints
Image:800px-Footprints_wide.jpg|footprints F7 default view
</gallery>

*It seems they are viewable at the default F7 camera; a little more visible than last tale.
You need 1 [[Canvas]] and 4 [[Boards]] to set up a Desert Rat Trap. Set the trap under Projects > Tests. These are not normal buildings: they don't appear on the ground and they don't last more than an instant. Either they catch the rat immediately, or they don't. The materials are NOT consumed if you fail to catch the rat.

Materials are ONLY consumed when you catch the rat. You can try as often as you want with the materials for one cage. It will give a short End timer. - Taemon

To catch a rat in your trap, you first need to follow the tracks in the direction of travel. Look closely at a track and you'll see rough toe prints on one end of the track. Using a very close-up single F8 camera view and lowering your texture resolution (click yourself/Utility/Options: Video) can be very helpful in seeing the details of the tracks. Once you know which way the rat is traveling, continue to follow the tracks until they end. There can be fairly large gaps between tracks, so scan a good-sized area for further tracks. Once you think you've found the forward-most track, set your trap in front of it. If that was the most recently made track, you should catch a rat. If you don't catch one, scan further ahead for more tracks while your END timer runs down.

Also, rats can double back and go in circles. The toe prints can help you understand the path of travel when tracks criss-cross or do other confusing things. -- Ankh-EnDa

Rats can be found on grass as well as sand. To help see their tracks on sand, turn down time of day lighting and turn up shadows.

'''IMPORTANT NOTE:''' ''You can ONLY see the tracks if you have shadows ON. Check your settings by clicking on yourself (or press Esc), then to Options, then to Video. Set it at to at least the 2nd tick to see the tracks!''

Tips for Catching that Rat:
*Rat tracks are spaced in proportion to their age, the older the tracks, the further apart they will be.
*Rat tracks do not immediate disappear once the rat is caught. The tracks stay and fade out in accordance with the same schedule as for above
*If you are following an active set of tracks, the next set of prints will show up within a few seconds in front of the last set.
*Rats are known to be suicidal. They have been observed to jump off the cliffs at the edge of the world, drown themselves in bodies of water.
*Rats despawn and move on by themselves, they do not wait around to be caught. Their tracks also won't immediately go away
*Build the trap using your menu: Projects | Tests | Tests of the Safari | Set up a Desert Rat Trap. It helps to pin the menu when you start tracking.
*The rats can climb up 90 degree cliffs, catch them fast if they are near one.
=== Fennec ===

Official game info from University of Body:

''Build a Fennec trap using boards and rope. Each night, traps on the outskirts of a pack will show signs of the creatures, and traps within 250 coordinates will capture one. At least four different subspecies of Fennecs must be captured and released.''

Fennecs are a species of desert fox. They are [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:10_Month_Old_Fennec_Fox.jpg officially adorable].

*Building a Fennec trap takes 4 [[Boards]] and 1 [[Rope]] and can only be build on sandy soil (when sand icon is shown). Projects>Tests>Safari
**Traps disintegrate after 30 days, by design.
*Checking your traps once per Egyptian day should be sufficient, since the status might only change once per day, at 3:00am. (was at cage that caught day before, at 2.05 am no signs, at 3.10 am signs - Pascalito)
*There are at least 6 kinds of Fennecs. One each of 4 different sub-species must be captured. Sub-species include:
**Pygmy
**Short-haired
**Sharp-toothed
**Ruddy
**Bushy-tailed
**Furry
**Brown
*There are 3 possible messages:
*#"The Trap is perfectly clean, not even a Fennec hair to be seen.", which means that there are no fennecs near. Or the trap has been checked earlier that day and had a fennec in it!
*#"Although the trap doesn't contain a live animal, you definitely see signs of Furry Fennecs!", which means that a fennec should be within 250 to 600 coordinates. Build more traps within that range (outside the 250 coords circle). {note the outer most limit of "you see signs of Furry Fennecs!" will be 1000 coords from the center point. you will get the "not even a Fennec hair to be seen" sign beyond 1000}
*#"You have captured a Furry Fennec! You let the little fellow go to rejoin his pack.", which means that you will have captured a fennec of a specific subspecies, as indicated.
*After you have captured all 4 subspecies of fennecs, it is a good custom to make your trap usable by anyone, to help others find good locations for capturing fennecs. Announcing locations to your friends, guild chat or even public chat might be helpful. Listing them here is also a good idea. [EDIT --[[User:Aperio|Aperio]] 14:19, 10 June 2011 (EST): Late in the Tale, there's almost no reason not to make them public to start with so you don't have to run back to make them all public (can they be guilded?). Like Shroomdar, I'd think that having more searchers provide data even if they cleaned your winning trap might be a valuable resource to all (and save you fruitless trips).
Separate page for [[Fennec_Locations|Fennec locations (map/table.)]]

Pro-tip:
*An easy way to catch fennecs is if someone announces a capture of a type you have not caught, build a trap 250 coordinates away in each cardinal direction from the announced capture point.
*{{5ok}}This must be done before the fennecs move at 2:00am. After 2:00am, check your four traps and one will have a fennec!
*tehm: I dropped traps between 2am and 3:30am, checked after 4am and mine were all still clean, but other public traps in the area showed signs. They may move at a different time now.
*New traps have to built before 2am and then checked after the move at 2am - BG {{5ok}}
*I've had them move at midnight, so place your traps prior to 12am. -Qu
=== Gazelle ===
Official game info from University of Body:

''Gazelles run faster than humans. The key to tagging a Gazelle is to tire it out. Strong teamwork <s>is a must</s> makes the process faster, but it can be done alone.''

<gallery>
image:800px-Gazelle2.jpg
</gallery>

The method of tagging a gazelle described below is merely meant as a suggested way to do it. However, it has proven to be a very successful way to have as many people as possible benefit from it. If this method is used correctly, everyone in the group should have a chance to tag it. Because of this, and especially because it's very hard (if not impossible) to do this by yourself, the method described below is recommended.

*Gazelles appear randomly in Egypt. Could be anywhere, but mostly in less populated areas.
*Unless completely hyped with speed/dexterity bonuses, it's almost impossible to capture a Gazelle by yourself. <i>Note: This is just not true. I've tagged many gazelles alone with no stat bonuses in the tales I've played. It just takes a long time (600 coords or so).</i>
*It is custom to announce a gazelle in an Egypt-wide channel like Egypt and form a large group. Let people come in, even if it takes half an hour.
*Everyone should position around the gazelle in a circle (like in the image above) and when the group is complete, one person should be appointed leader.
*If the circle around the gazelle is wide enough and nobody approaches the gazelle, the gazelle is almost guaranteed to just stand there.
*If the gazelle is close to an unpassable body of water (steep cliffs don't work, they can walk up there, even if 90 degrees), it is easier to enclose it. Making a double lined half-circle around it can be considered.
*On command of the leader, the group decreases the size of the circle slowly, moving in on the gazelle step by step.
*The gazelle will try to run away from anyone coming close to it, making a short dash a couple of coordinates away. If someone is near after the dash, it will dash again until either noone is near enough or the gazelle is exhausted. The gazelle is likely to escape from any circle around it, dashing through the circle.
*From this moment on, the group should chase the gazelle, but keep a certain distance. If the gazelle stops running, form a new circle around it and start over.
*When a gazelle has become tired, this is visible because it will let it's head hang down. Up to this moment, it's head will be upright.
*When this happens (tiring it out), it will not move until it gathers new energy to run again. This status will remain for about 10-20 seconds.
*The leader of the group signals everyone to tag. At this point, everyone can run up to the gazelle and click it. After tagging it, a popup should appear for each individual who tags it.
*As soon as you've tagged it, it is important to move away from the gazelle again. If not everyone has had the chance to tag it, this might be a way to keep it in sight and repeat the process.
*After regaining energy, the gazelle will run away again. Everyone who has not tagged it by then, should say so. If this is a reasonable large percentage of the group, try chasing it again.
*You can get more than one per day.
Technique for few people (advanced):
*Gazelles don't dash in any direction, they may dash NNW through WSW to SSE, but never E or NE. This means you don't need to cover the east or norht-east side of the gazelle
*One person NW of the gazelle and another SE of it should be able to make it dash back and forth between them until it is exhausted. For this to work both hunters need to keep a certain distance when the other is close to it, so the gazelle won't dash through one hunter and away from both of them.
*When the gazelle starts moving, it is wise to keep a formation and move with the gazelle, keeping it dashing back and forth between the hunters. Moving like this makes it possible for three hunters to make a triangle around the gazelle and keep it on the inside, exhausting it while moving.

''Note:'' It's entirely possible to herd a gazelle against a body of water to tire it when working in a pair; all that is required is a small area of land that juts into the water so that the gazelle can be cornered. Large groups of people are not necessary - [[User:Aretach|Aretach]]

=== Falcons ===

Official game info from University of Body:

''To identify a Falcon Roost, drop a [[Rabbit]]. A falcon will take it sometime within the next 5 minutes (but never within the first minute), and will fly off toward the nearest roost. Trees may be checked for roosts, but doing so is exhausting!''

* Searching a tree for falcon roosts triggers the [[endurance]] timer. At 0 END, this timer lasts 120 seconds.
* Some settings need to be made to ensure you can search for falcons:
*Dropping a rabbit isn't completely necessary to find falcons. There's always a tiny chance of finding the falcon roost in any tree (though the chance is very low).
*When you drop a rabbit, wait for a few minutes till it disappears. When that happens, read in your Main chat screen in which direction (North, South, East, West, Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, Southwest) you can look. Please bear in mind that this includes any tree in that direction along all of Egypt. The directions aren't very precise; for example North could also be leaning towards Northeast or Northwest. Use the map (F3) or compass (F4) to determine the direction to search.
10/31/2012 A recent Windows (7x64) Update and/or a new Java Update (7u9) seems to have broken *all* java applets.
This includes Falcon Finder. The app was working early Oct 2012 and now shows broken on my PC.
ymmv [[User:Zhukuram|Zhukuram]] 13:20, 31 October 2012 (EST)

4/20/2013 See notes below for a possible fix ~Cegaiel

I also could not get the page to work. I keep getting this popup saying I need Java installed, but I DO have it installed. After messing around trying various things, I believe I know what the issue is. I was running 64 bit version of IE but only had the 32 bit of Java installed. If you open IE click Help, About it will say if you're using the 64 bit version. The other way to tell is to right click the IE icon, choose Properties. The 32 bit IE will point to C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and the 64 bit will point to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe. If you're using the 64 bit IE, then start using the 32 bit.

I strongly recommend having both 32 and 64 bit Java installed (7u21). Some programs wont support the 64 bit anyways. If you want to start out fresh and make sure everything is up to par, then uninstall all versions of Java. Then go to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp . Download and install BOTH Windows Offline 32 bit and Windows Offline 64 bit. One will be installed in Program Files (x86) and the other will be installed to the Program Files folder. The page is now working perfectly!

*User notes regarding <font color=indigo>Falcon Finder</font> tool:
**Twice, immediately after finding a falcon, I dropped a rabbit for a falcon, watched it go one direction, dropped a second rabbit '''in the same place''', only to see the falcon fly in a completely different direction. As a result, I conclude that FalconFinder2 is useless, ''also see above comment about the directions not being precise''. I suggest simply dropping a rabbit, watching falcon fly off, searching 5-10 nearby trees roughly in direction indicated, then give up and drop another rabbit to reset the falcon's location. This produced falcons every 3-4 rabbits without a lot of running around. -Ikuu
**As a contrary opinion, I tracked a falcon using falcon finder across 3 regions and it was entirely accurate - it narrowed the possible region down to just one oasis using 4-5 rabbits, and the falcon was in the first tree I tried. --[[User:Inkoaten|Inkoaten]] 09:25, 22 April 2009 (EST)
**If there is indeed only one falcon in Egypt at a time, someone catching it will cause the direction to change as you start orienting on the new one. Falcon finder can only show you where a falcon is, not who else might be hunting it. [[User:JulianJaynes|JulianJaynes]] 20:36, 3 May 2009 (EST)
** 10/1/10: Used about 20 bunnies running around in circles in a small area. Had [[User:RosieRazor|RosieRazor]] help confirm i was not crazy. Rosie and I each dropped a bunny in the exact same spot. Mine went SE, her's went SW. Moved Directly south 20 coords and dropped a falcon. That one went North. Conclusion: Gave up. [[User:Oni|Oni]].
** 10/27/10: I have found FalconFinder to be extremely usefull. Having found all 4 of my falcons with as little as 4 and at the most 8 rabbits. I drop one rabbit and follow indicated direction on falcon finder for aprox 700 to 1K cords and drop another and re-enter info. Doing this has led to captures in an average of 2 hrs with the longest taking me almost 5. [[User:Articgrey|Articgrey]] 02:17, 27 October 2010
** 2/12/12: Using FalconFinder, I was able to track down a falcon with 5 rabbits in less than an hour. However, the map is not from T6, so the universities and schools are now different. If I had realized that sooner, I would have saved myself one rabbit. Focus more on the coordinates and less on the landmarks! [[User:Minerva|Minerva]]
* The closer you get to the falcon, the less accurate the directional information from dropping a rabbit. This is not a bug. [[User:JulianJaynes|JulianJaynes]] 17:38, 30 June 2009 (EST)
* I tracked 2 falcons simultaneously via chariot hops. There are at least two in Egypt, though they may not always appear at the same time. --[[User:Wrongskian|Wrongskian]]
* Note that altars interfere with bunny-dropping. I dropped a rabbit three times near an altar (about 10 coords away) and waited over 10 minutes each time without falcons taking them. I had no idea what was wrong, but thankfully someone on Egypt filled me in -- moving about 50 coords away and dropping a bunny again did the trick.
=== Ibis ===

Official game info from University of Body:

''Only one flock of Ibis inhabits Egypt. Tagging a single bird causes it to flee, but the rest of the flock is unfazed. The flock tends to move at night, and resettle in the morning.''

[[Image:IbisT6.jpg|thumb|100px|An Ibis]]

*The ibis flock consists of 25 birds and appears at a random spot on any shore at 6:00am. Any ibis not tagged by 6:00pm will despawn. {{7ok}}
*It is a courtesy to announce the flock of Ibis somewhere. Whether or not you want to inform your guild brothers and sisters first, or your close friends, or straight away post their location in the Egypt channel, is up to you. But if you want to see some fun havoc after you've spotted the flock, announce it in Egypt and see some people go into panic-mode.
*When you announce a flock's location, please mention the region, its coordinates and where it is close to (e.g. schools or universities, for example).
*It is a courtesy for someone to stay with the flock, and keep announcing how many there are left.
*It is a courtesy for people on their way to the flock to announce that fact. Others coming from far can then estimate if there would be any left on their arrival, thus making a decision to go or not.
*It is considered poor sportsmanship to build obstructions to prevent an ibis from being visible, e.g. a mine or quarry. Likewise, ibis cannot not be "reserved"-- they are strictly first come, first serve. You run, you take your chances.
*You may only capture one ibis per Egyptian day. In practice, this seems to mean one ibis per 24 Egyptian hours rather than one ibis per spawn. You cannot tag two ibis within 24 Egyptian hours, even if the two ibis are in different spawns.
=== Otters ===

Official game info from University of Body:

''Otters build an underground network of tunnels. It is possible to put a board down to block a portion of the network, but if too many holes are blocked, the otter will get annoyed and eat a board!''

[[image:otter.png]]

<B>Note:</b> From what I gather, all, but one, of the 12 holes have 4 escape routes. It is impossible to capture an otter from a hole with 4 escape routes. Your job is to find the hole that only has 3 escape routes and use the 3 boards to block those holes. As soon as you see a hole has 4 escape routes, then thats a good candidate to put a board in. ~[[User:Cegaiel | Cegaiel]]

<B>Note #2:</b> Some holes have 5 exits so don't assume all just have 4 options ~[[User:Dianess | Dianess]]<br>
<i>- I have never encountered an otter hole with 5 exits. Can anyone else confirm this? -[[User:Xaxyx | Xaxyx]]</i><br>
<i>- Yes, a network I encountered recently had several holes with 5 exits -[[User:Aretach | Aretach]]</i>

* Each otter has 12 holes that it can escape to, and mock you from.
* Try catching the otter and map which holes it escapes to. Using your 3 boards to force it to specific holes, eventually you will find one hole with only 3 exits in which you should put your boards.
* While out and bout to trap otters carry a avg of 20 boards on you. It appears this tale the otters are fixed...not like last tale. This tale you must trap them between 3 holes now. Easy way to do this is to map out the hole locations, if more than 3 boards are placed wrong the otter will eat the boards.
** ''Note'' - Otters seem to put up with a variable number of boards ... a guildmate had one eaten when he placed more than 3 boards, I've had one eaten on more than 4 (eaten when a 5th was placed) and my wife had one eaten a board on the placement of the 10th board. - [[User:Tahrqa|Tahrqa]]
:: I caught one after placing 7 boards, with none eaten. Probably just lucky, though. --[[User:Shebi|Shebi]] 20:44, 11 February 2009 (EST)
** ''Also Note'': Once caught the holes (and any boards in them) disappear.
* Sometimes an otter's holes can be hidden by objects like mines, quarries, and warehouses.
* Otters can be found in grassland or desert: in that case, their holes look like silt (but brownish), or a round version of a flimsy brick rack, if you will.
* Otters can be "tag-teamed," meaning that two people may put three boards each into otter holes. However, the otter will still escape if boards are not blocking all exits from the hole he's in.
* One method of catching an otter: get a piece of graph paper. Run around and find and map all holes on your graph paper. Note which hole the otter is presently in and mark that hole number 1 and try to catch the otter. Find the hole that the otter went to next and mark that number 2. You now know that holes 1 and 2 are connected. Try to catch the otter again. Mark the hole that the otter escapes to number 3. You now know that holes 2 and 3 are connected. Continue in this matter until you have a pretty good idea of which holes are connected to each other. In this way you will be able to determine the otter's escape routes from each hole. Once you have figured out which hole has only three escape routes, you will be able to place your boards in the escape route holes and capture the otter. This takes TIME. It took me over an hour to map the holes and determine where to catch the otter. Best of luck to you!!
*A simple mapping method:
*#Turn off your "auto pick up piles of 50 or fewer items" option, Self->Options->One Click and Related.
*#Pick up 78 sand.
*#Drop 1 sand by the first hole you find.
*#Drop 2 sand by the next hole you find.
*#Continue until you've labeled each hole with a sand bucket.
*#Locate the otter, click on the sand bucket to see which number hole this is, and write it down. Try to catch the otter.
*#Relocate the otter, click on the sand bucket to see which number hole this is, draw an arrow from your first number and write down the second one.
*#Continue with mapping and blocking as above.
:Basically, this avoids having to keep track of coords, where holes are in relation to each other, etc. You always know which hole it is immediately just by checking the bucket.
*Another otter catching method. This should only use 3-4 boards and take about 5 minutes if you know generally where all of the holes are. - [[User:Engine|Engine]]
*#Move to the first hole that has an otter and try to catch it; place a board in this hole,
*#Find the hole the otter has moved to and mark it with a piece of grass. This will be the hole you want it finish up in,
*#Click on the otter and move to the new hole,
*#If the otter moves back to the hole marked with grass, put a board in the hole it just came from and click on the otter again,
*#Repeat the last two steps until you've caught the otter
*Additional tips ([[User:Wrel|Wrel]]):
*#Map your progress in a text editor or spreadsheet, with a column for each hole and a row for all escape routes for that hole.
*#Escape routes are 2-way, so if the otter can go from hole 1 to hole 2, it can also go from hole 2 to hole 1. Therefore, new escape routes add 2 entries to your chart.
*#You can always place up to 3 boards without any being eaten.
*#When mapping escape routes, if the otter's at a hole that has 3 or less known escapes, board up all of the escape routes you already know about - this forces it to go somewhere new, if it can. (Make sure to remove all the boards from other holes first.) Now you'll either know another escape route for that hole, or you'll get lucky and actually capture the otter.

Sheep pox is a dangerous disease that has returned and threatens the health and well-being of all sheep in Egypt. Diseased pens must be treated one way or another to control the sheep pox and prevent an epidemic. To this end, the people of Egypt enact this law:

PREVENTION:<br>
1. Anyone may add food or medicine to any sheep pen at any time.<br>

QUARANTINE:<br>
2. Any sheep pen containing visibly diseased sheep is considered quarantined (see below).<br>
3. Any sheep pen containing one or more sheep but zero onions is considered quarantined (see below).<br>
4. Any pen considered quarantined is no longer considered quarantined once it either contains no sheep or contains onions without containing any visibly diseased sheep.<br>

EPIDEMIC CONTROL:<br>
5. Any citizen may slaughter sheep in a quarantined sheep pen by invoking the ancient law of the flock: "Baa-ram-ewe! Baa-ram-ewe! The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few!"<br>
6. Any resources gained from slaughter under section 5 of this law remain the property of the pen owner, subject to existing permissions.<br>

The Glazier's Bench is used to make various glass products, such as [[Glass Rods]] and [[Sheet Glass]]. It runs on [[fuel::Charcoal]].

Consult the [[Glassmaking Guide]] or the section below (needs consolidation) for detailed strategies for using a Glazier's Bench.

== Source ==
This building becomes available after you have learned the [[requires::Glassblowing]] tech. Once built, anyone can make glass products regardless of skill.

== Cost ==
* 200 [[requires::Firebricks]]
* 400 [[requires::Bricks]]
* 1200 [[requires::Sand]]

Built in a [[Compound]]. Uses 13x6 cells.

== Types of Glass ==
A Glazier's Bench has a reservoir that can hold up to 50 deben of molten glass. It must contain '''at least 20''' in order to craft an item from that glass, regardless of how much the item will actually consume. This means that 19 deben of glass can never be used; it is a permanent minimum reservoir level. Fortunately, unused molten glass stays in the bench between uses, even after cooling (it re-melts the next time you heat the bench), so it is not necessary to fill the reservoir from scratch every time.

An individual bench can only contain one type of glass (soda, normal, or jewel) at a time. If you want to use a bench for a different type of glass, you must deliberately empty the reservoir and start over. Since this is so wasteful, it's generally more economical to build an additional Glazier's Bench for the new glass type instead.

The maximum amount of glass that can be held is '''50''' - if you attempt to load it with more than that, the materials will not be loaded, instead you are told "''The crucible holds a maximum of 50 deben of glass.''"

===Using a Glazier's Bench (more detail)===

Glazier's Benches use [[charcoal]] as fuel, and in order to melt and shape glass the bench must be heated by adding charcoal. While using the bench, the window will display the current temperature, as well as options to add 2, 6, or 12 charcoal.

Adding charcoal causes the temperature to increase over a period of about a minute -- the more charcoal added, the greater the increase. This is followed by another minute or so where the temperature stays constant, followed by a gradual cooling.

If charcoal is added while the bench is still in the "heating-up" phase from the last charcoal addition, this will trigger a dramatic spike in temperature. This can be a useful way to heat the bench quickly to its desired temperature. However, it is disastrous if it happens while creating an item (when the temperature must be kept within a certain range), as the spike in temperature will almost definitely ruin the item. Keeping the bench's temperature constant demands careful timing between charcoal additions.

Left alone, a bench will eventually begin cooling until its temperature returns to zero. It is not possible to speed up this cooling process. Items made on a bench cannot be taken out until the bench completely cools.

A more detailed model of glazier bench response may be found at Details
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

===Glass Products===
There are three types of glass. One of these combinations is heated to high temperature to produce melted glass of the desired type. The melted glass can later be formed to the various end products. It takes 1 deben of glass to create 1 item, except where noted otherwise.

===Items that can be produced using soda glass===

*[[produces::Glass Rod]] takes 60 Seconds
*[[produces::Glass Pipe]] takes 90 Seconds
*[[produces::Glass Blade]] takes 120 Seconds

===Items that can be produced using normal glass===
*[[produces::Glass Rod]] takes 60 Seconds
*[[produces::Glass Pipe]] takes 90 Seconds
*[[produces::Glass Jar]] takes 90 Seconds
*[[produces::Empty Wine Bottles]] take 90 Seconds (Makes 12 from 1 glass)
*[[produces::Sheet Glass]] takes 120 Seconds (Success also depends on the [[Sheet Glass Fabrication]] skill)
*[[produces::Glass Torch]] takes 180 Seconds (Requires 5 glass)

===Items that can be produced using jewel glass===
*[[produces::Fine Glass Rod]] Takes 90 Seconds
*[[produces::Fine Glass Pipe]] Takes 90 Seconds

===Making a Mirror===
Once you have obtained a Sheet Glass Fabrication skill of 7, you will receive a new menu entry, "Fuse silver powder to sheet glass".

A [[produces::mirror]] is made in any glazier's bench regardless of the amount or type of glass. The bench has to be heated above 5000 degrees. To make a mirror you must have 200 [[requires::Silver Powder]] and 1 [[requires::Sheet Glass]] in your inventory. Sheet glasses in the bench do not count so you have to let the bench cooldown and take the sheet glass out before making a mirror. It takes 30 seconds for the silver powder to fuse to the glass to make a mirror.

===Comments===
Various glass products can be placed in a [[Glory Hole]], and converted to advanced resources such as [[Thermometer|thermometers]].

More discussion and operation details may be found in the [[Glassmaking Guide]].

===Pollution===
Using this building will cause soot pollution to occur in roughly a 50 cord radius. Running controlled tests at an isolated compound, after running 46 debins of glass through (20 sheet glass, 26 glass jars on 2 benches), the soot level around the compound went from 0 to 6 right as the benches were cooling. Any area effected by soot will cause flax to yield nothing when harvested.

This wiki exists to document the game and to provide a community scratchpad for the players. You can find [[Guides]] on things such as growing flax, an [[Atlas]] of interesting places, and various personal pages created by the [[Special:ListUsers | Users]] and [[:Category:Guilds|Guilds]]. If you're looking to buy and sell, try [[Trading]]. Visit the [http://www.atitd.org/ community portal] for info on current events, debates on the forums, or just random chatter. These links and many more can be found in the wiki sidebar to the left.

Anyone with an ATITD game account can edit any page on this site, but you will need to [[OpenID|log in]] first. Please read the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents user's guide] and information on [[Help:Formatting | formatting]] to see how to edit, and read our [[Policies]] before editing. Politics are not welcome (exception: [[Special:ListUsers | Users]] pages, but no personal attacks please) and, if you want to discuss something such as [[laws]], you'll find the [http://www.atitd.org/forum forums] more suitable. If you have any difficulties, please ask around in game or contact a [[ATITD7:Administrators|wiki admin]].
If you copy information directly from an old Tale, make sure you tag the page with the <nowiki>{{T7}}</nowiki> template so that it is clear that the information needs checking! (just put <nowiki>{{T7}}</nowiki> at the top of the page edit)

Also, as we clean up these pages please use <nowiki>{{7ok}}</nowiki> template [[File:t7ok_small.gif]] to mark specific information as having been verified. Information that still needs to be verified should be marked with <nowiki>{{7}}</nowiki> template [[File:T7N.png]].
