The '''Desert Obelisk''' is the first obelisk type available to the people of Egypt. It is built to pass the [[Test of the Obelisk]] (or the principle thereof), or simply for decoration.

This type of obelisk requires [[bricks]], [[boards]], [[clay]], [[Dried Flax|dried flax]], [[flint]], [[linen]], and [[slate]] to build. As with all obelisks, it is built in a [[Small Construction Site]], where the builder defines the size of the obelisk-to-be in cubits. The taller the obelisk, the greater the material requirements.

This building becomes available when you learn the [[Obelisk Construction]]* tech. You must also have started the [[Test of the Obelisk]].

Note: Time seems to vary considerably (Teppy time?); Manu's obelisk was built on 31/12 15:55GMT and had yet to pass on 3/1 4:55GMT (2 days, 13 hours real time); it had passed when we logged in on 3/1 11:40AM
