New page

==Body Test: Test of Sport Fishing==

Players must catch a Sport Fish from every Egypt Region to pass this test.

==Sport Fish Unique by Region==

Each Region will have a unique Sport Fish Type. For example, Lower Egypt's sport fish maybe "Nile Gar".

==Locating the Sport Fish==

In each region at a fixed time in the day 2 hours, for example Noon - 2PM, the Sport Fish will be available to find.

The sport fish will make a splashing sound if within radius at random times (similar to frogs).

Within a fixed radius, like line of sight for gazelle, the fish will also be visible to the player in the water, maybe jumping or poking it's head out of the water.

==First Watch to Catch the Sport Fish==

To catch a sport fish, first the cast must be done close to where the fish is visible.

The player must observe the fish via clicking on the fish to identify a catching strategy.

This will allow the player to view the below 4 characteristics of the fish:

* Power
* Speed
* Finesse
* Endurance

==Second Customize Your Sport Rod to Maximize Success==

The player then must prepare their 'Sport Rod' to try and match the properties of the fish as close as possible.

To make a 'Sport Rod' the player must first find a 'Fine Bamboo Stick', this is randomly found in Bamboo Plants with a 1/77 chance when searching.

Then combining with a glass blade, 7 thread, 7 twine and 2 wooden pegs to make the 'Sport Rod', players may give the rod a unique name, the default name is for example 'Porthos Sporting Rod 1" if it is the first rod made.

The player then customizes the 'Sport Rod' by preparing a 'Angler's Bonfire', like a bonfire but displays heat level in a bar, and adding treatments while the bonfire is burning.

For example treating with water or adding charcoal to raise/lower temperature for speed of the effect of ingredients like beeswax, each type of resin, bending from the top or the bottom of the rod, using 'sandpaper' (diamond dust + papyrus paper) or whittling knife on the top or bottom of the rod all will change property similar to wood/metal treatment.

==Error and Skill Considerations==

* The players observation of the fish will not be very accurate at first and will have a 25% sigma error on each property bar at level 1.

* Players will gain levels with repeated observations:
* 2 observations to reach level 2 which reduces error to 20%
* 6 observations to level 3 at 15% error
* 14 observations to reach 10% error at level 4
* 30 observations to get to 5% error at level 5
* 62 observations to get to 2.5% error at level 6
* 126 observations to level 7 with final 1% error.

==Rod Breaking Considerations==

The rod has a % chance of breaking when trying to catch the Sport Fish based upon the sum of total %error the rod property is different from the fish property.

This %error is multiplied if the lure type is different from what the Sport Fish prefers.

==Sport Fish Lure Considerations==

Each time a Sport Fish appears it will have a random 7 insect lures that it prefers.

After casting a lure the player will get the following messages:

* 'The fish appears uninterested' - The lure type is completely wrong, the fish has a 20% chance of disappearing.

* 'The fish nibbles on the lure' - The lure type is nominally correct (1 of the 4 types it sometimes eats), but the %error has a 4x multiplier of the rod breaking if the player tries to catch (The player may release the fish but it has an 80% chance of disappearing)

* 'The fish bites on the lure' - The lure type is correct, but not the favorite (1 of the 2 types it will eat), but the %error has a 2x multiplier of the rod breaking if the player tries to catch (The player may release the fish but it has an 80% chance of disappearing)

* 'The fish chomps on the lure' - This lure type is it's favorite food. No multiplier penalty.

==Final Battle to Catch==

After the player gets a nibble/bite/chomp on the line, the battle to catch the fish begins.

Similar to working a charcoal oven, the player must manage, the bars for the line feed by bringing in or letting out the line, by moving the rod left/right and/or up/down, if the management drops outside of the control window the fish escapes.

Each action takes player endurance decreasing their bar, but keeping the bars on target drop the fish's endurance bar.

If the player loses all endurance first the fish gets away, otherwise they catch the fish.

==Sport Fish Sizes==

Finally if the player catches the fish, the size of the sport fish will be determined by a formula.

* Size of Sport Fish = %endurance left from player * %time when caught (earlier in the 2 hours is better) * 1/%error (accuracy of rod/lure vs fish).

==Fishing Records==

The University will keep records of the top 7 fishers in each region which is calculated by the sum of the size of sport fish caught in the region caught with a particular named rod, and are visible at the UBody for that region.

==Don't Break Your Rod==
But if the players sport rod breaks, they will start again at 0 points, and a player may only own one sport rod at a time, however their previous record will remain on the list until other players surpass it or the player beats their old score.

==Record Holder Titles==
The player with the top score in each region will be have a visible title such as "Master Angler of Nubia".
