Crackly Green Mottled

This page serves as a repository of research notes on Toxin EG04, the fourth mutagen unlocked in Eastern Grounds by Renard. It uses 3 Crackly Green Mottled (Negative to Fuzzy Hairy Spongy) moss and 6 Brain, 7 Slave's Bread mushrooms.

First mutation test: L-Vampire R-Silken

No change to either flower.

Second mutation test: L-Silken R-Vampire

Vampire has lost Magenta in outer stamen.

Next step

Not a particularly informative start, but the fact that Magenta was affected in the second test indicates that the first four genes of vampire were not affected, so the first six genes of silken were not affected in the first test. Hence, it was an I or a Y swapped in the first test, and not an O.

Still, with so little information to go on, crossing Delicate and Fracture left and right is my usual fallback.

Third mutation test: L-Delicate R-Fracture

Yellow has been removed from the outer stamen, but yellow has spread to all three sections of the stamen. IYIY has been replaced by IYIY.
L-Delicate 9 or 11 (I)
Fracture has become a Semi-Dwarf, but no colour is visible in the stamen.
R-Fracture 3 or 7 (Y)

Fourth mutation test: L-Fracture R-Delicate

No change to Fracture.
In Delicate, the outer stamen has lost magenta.
Since Fracture has not changed, but Delicate has, Fracture's GOR region must have been affected.
If I was transferred from Delicate, it must have replaced the R, otherwise color would be visible on Fracture's stamen.
If O was transferred from Delicate, it must have replaced the G, otherwise cyan color would be visible on Delicate's stamen.

Results and next step

From the fourth test, we can see that the left splint affects genes 12 or 14, limiting the range on the left splint to 61.11-77.78%.
On Vampire, this limits the range from 8-10. 10 is not an option, so the range on the left splint is limited to 61.11-75%
Delicate has a limiting range of either 9 or 11 which imply ranges of 50-56.25% and 62.5-68.75%. Only the second option fits the above ranges.
L-Delicate 11(I)
L-Fracture 12(G)
L-Vampire 8(Y)
L-Silken 12(G)

Hence, in the first test, Silken provided a Y. This limits the range from 33.33-50%.
That limits it to the seventh gene for Fracture.
Hence, in test 4, the G must have been transferred to Delicate and replaced an O.
R-Fracture 7(Y)
R-Silken 7(Y)
R-Vampire 5(I)
R-Delicate 6(O)

Energy has been reduced to 2 possible genes on both the left and right splints.
L-Energy 27 or 28
R-Energy 15 or 16
VVVVV UYYY UYYY GYYY GYYY GRRO GRRO UROR UROR VVVVV
Inauspicious.

Crown has been reduced to 2 possible genes on both the left and right splints.
L-Crown 24 or 25
R-Crown 13 or 14
UROO UROO UROO V UR V OO V UR V OR V UROR UROR UROR
Right in the midst of the area that's hardest to test for. Moving on . . .

Clarity has been reduced to 2 possible genes on both the left and right splints.
L-Clarity 23 or 24
R-Clarity 13 or 14
IRIR IOIO IYIY GORR GROR GRRO GORR GROR GRRO
This is more promising.

Blush
L-Blush 17 or 18
R-Blush 9 or 10
GROR V GOOO V UROO V IO V IOO V IOOO
Crossing this with Clarity will probably be rather informative about what was affected on Blush, but has a high chance of not really narrowing anything down for Clarity.

Fifth mutation test: L-Clarity R-Clarity

On the left, outer north lost cyan, while on the right outer north lost yellow.
Hence, gene 13 was affected on the right, but as feared, it's not clear what was affected on the left. R-Clarity 13(G)

Next step

That narrows down the possibilities on the right splint for morning.

R-Morning 15 or 16
IRRR IYYY IYYY UYYY UYYY UROR UROR GRRR GYYY GORR GRRO
Not a particularly easy testing region to interpret.

R-Dusk 25, 26, or 27
GROR GORR UYYY GYOR IY GRRO IYYY GRRO GORR GROR ROYG IO GROR IOOO IYY IY URRR GRRO GORR UOOO
It's three genes, but it should be fairly easy to interpret if crossed with a Blush. What happens to the stamen should make it clear what gene was affected on Dusk, and Blushes stamen will be affected it it hits the 17th gene, or no effect if it hits the 18th.

Sixth mutation test: L-Blush R-Dusk

On Blush, the outer stamen gained yellow and lost magenta. On Dusk, only the innermost stamen was affected by losing yellow.
L-Blush 17(O)
R-Dusk 26(Y)

Next step

Success. Now the right hand side has been narrowed down enough we might try Crimson, and the range on the left might be appropriate for Dusk. R-Crimson 37 or 38 GYORIOOOIOOIOIOIYYYIYYIYIYUOOOUYYYUROOUROOURORURORGOOOGOOOGOOOGYYYGYYYGYYYGRORGRORGRORGRORGRROGRROGRROGRRO
If we can slip and R into that area, it would be informative. However, we don't know of any lily that donates a gene from the Left splint for this mutagen.

L-Dusk 46, 47, or 48
GROR GORR UYYY GYOR IY GRRO IYYY GRRO GORR GROR ROYG IO GROR IOOO IYY IY URRR GRRO GORR UOOO
Not a great region to work on, but it can be done. If the first letter is replace by a Y or I that will have an obvious effect, if the second letter is replace by an R or I that will have an obvious effect. If the third letter is replaced by an I, there will be no change to the stamen. In any case, the GROR is broken up, and if it turns out to be gene 46 or 48 which is affected we have a donor to test Crimson with.

Blush and Crown still have ambiguous ranges on the right splint, but those are problematic areas to work on.

Seventh mutation test: L-Dusk R-Vampire

Dust has lost Magenta in the outer north petals and no change is apparent in the stamen.
L-Dusk 48(R)

Next step=

Now the range from Crimson has been narrowed
L-Crimson 69 or 70 which is a pair of Ys in a GYYY allele.

On the left, other than Crimson, only Crown is still ambiguous. Either and R or a V will be transferred, but no effect will be visible on Crown. However, if we put a Delicate on the right, the effect will be visible on Delicate's stamen.

Also as discussed, we can see how Crimson is affected on the right splint if we can move an R over. Now we know Dusk provides one.

Eighth mutation test: L-Crown R-Delicate

Seventh mutation test: L-Dusk R-Crimson
