What Are We?

Back in the mists of history, well before the time of your grandparents' grandparents, often referred to as the Era of T2, there was a Guild by the name of Vigilant Visions.

The purpose of this guild was to bring together those who sought to prove their mettle in the Discipline of Worship with the Test of the Vigil. All were welcome to participate, from those who were merely dabblers, seeking to show their interest with one or two sacrifices after which they would move on, to the dedicated Disciple, intent on proving their dedication towards the Vigil, who choose to stay for hours, possibly even days, for as long as the demands of the test can be met.

And now, today, in the Era of T7, we have chosen to follow in the footsteps of our forebears and raise the banner of Vigilant Visions once more, opening our doors to others who would take this test.

Where Are We?

Our guild house can be found in Seven Lakes, only a stone's throw south from the Chariot Stop.

The coordinates are 1403, -1251.

The location has a warehouse for the storage of goods to be sacrificed. Donations are accepted with our gratitude and the gratitude of those who join us.

There is also a compound where we have a variety of facilities available to make up for any shortcomings of goods that a Vigil might require.

The original plans for the outfitting of that facility (now mostly complete) can be found at the following site: http://bit.ly/1LQUyEi (Google docs spreadsheet)

How Are We?

A Vigil is a demanding and time consuming Test that is best met with resolve, restraint, and much cooperation. To get the most out of your Vigil experience, please ensure that you only Sacrifice the items that the Vigil caller assigns to you. Please do your best to follow any directions given for the most rewarding experience.

If you choose to take part in our Vigil, please do what you can to either collect material for yourself, or for the good of the Vigil prior to the day of the Vigil. We will do what we can to have stores on hand to help make the Vigil as successful as possible, but there are times when the demands are not easily met by an individual or small group.

For those who are staying for the entire Vigil, or as much of it as their endurance will permit, we will rotate through individuals in order, with each individual being given the next available Sacrifice in turn. There will likely be many Sacrifices which cannot be met by the individual assigned, and other participants may choose to donate a required item or trade an item in order to allow the individual in question to make their Sacrifice as scheduled. If an individual must leave the Vigil, please be sure to inform the Vigil manager and get confirmation that they have removed you from the active rotation. If you return at a later time, you will be added to the rotation as though you were a new participant. Please ensure that you are a Member of the guild so that you will be aware of all instructions and issues that may arise.

For those who desire to only deposit a single Sacrifice for the purpose of demonstrating the Principle of the Test, please contact the Vigil manager or a presiding Elder via private chat and ensure that the Vigil manager is aware that you do not with to enter the rotation. The manager will insert the individual into the next slot of the rotation so that they may get their assigned Sacrifice as quickly as possible and be on their way, and then the Vigil may continue with as little interruption as possible. You do not have to be present to be assigned a Principle Sacrifice. Principle individuals have no need to be members of the guild.

To be clear, nobody in the Vigil is personally responsible for the Sacrifice that is assigned to them. Everyone present in the Vigil is. We succeed or fail as a group. We do not expect you to run home and start working on materials for your sacrifices. Even if the Warehouses are lacking the materials for a Sacrifice, it's the responsibility of the entire Vigil to gather the materials.

In order for this to work, though, we need to know what people are good at, and we need people to be diligent on gathering materials for the duration of the Vigil. We need people to gather flax, vegetables, wood, boards, bricks, firebricks, clay, slate, silt, fish, and so on while you're taking part in the Vigil. That way, if the Vigil asks you to get something you're not so good at getting, you can rely on the Vigil taking care of it while you work on something you're good at, and enjoy doing.

Who Are We?

Elders

Other members fluctuate as the needs of the Vigil require, though we may allow some to remain semi-permanent members as resources permit.
