Test of the Angry Gods
Idea: if it were a body test then there would have to be a potion or something that prevented you from hallucinating or travelling in circles or something, if you were in the deep desert for too long
if it were a worship test then I guess you'd have to visit an altar, make a prayer of protection and meditate before any planned long trips across the desert, and the protection granted would last for say an hour after which the GOds get angry and throw you around a bit!
keep the random thing though, like a certain % so you never know if it will happen today or you'll be safe (if unprotected) more intense that way, maybe even when you hear the whispers, you get judged and they might forgive you, so you hear them and try to run to safety or a altar while praying they have mercy on you.
DP Debate On Line
Q1. For those who have never had the opportunity to interact with you before can you share a little about yourself, what you enjoy about ATITD as well as how long you have been playing?
- I am married to a musician/ radio producer, have a spoilt cat and live in a historic country town in Australia. I studied English Lit, European History and Psychology at Uni. Recently retired, I earned a living in several large government agencies, notably in Defence project management, value engineering and eventually leadership development. In real life I enjoy gardening, singing and art/ crafts.
What I most enjoy about ATITD is the people stuff and being able to potentially influence what happens. I started playing right at the end of T4, and have played all the way through T5, T6 and now T7.
Q2. How you like T7 so far, is it better or worse than previous Tales. Which Tale was your favorite?
- Each of the tales is different. I enjoyed T6 a lot – it gave me a chance to complete all the available tests in all seven disciplines and learn all the way. I am enjoying T7 because I can dabble more deeply and pursue things that interest or challenge me.
Q3. If the general consensus of the rest of the DPs were that that person should not be banned, but you felt strongly that they should, what would you do?
- The only time I would consider using the ban powers would be if there are clearly illegal actions happening online (like drug dealing). In that case I would have a moral obligation to set out the evidence and declare my intention and rationale. I’d more likely to be one of the DPs arguing for not banning, and taking the initiative to talk it through.
Q4. How's your progress in other Leadership tests?
- I’m getting there slowly…though I firmly believe that leadership action isn’t confined to tests.
Q5. How are you providing leadership in the game and amongst the player base?
- I am proud to be an elder in zfree guild. We manage as a team a large and diverse member base and endeavour to provide services and support our members. As a leadership team we all play to our strengths and work together on many issues.
Q6. What specifically have you done to further the growth of the community?
- I have helped to set up the RP Gem School as a resource for all. I enjoy contributing to community projects, such as the pyramids. I also help out on people issues. These are, and will remain, confidential.
Q7. How do you feel about sometimes heavy use of macros in this game by many players? If there was a choice would you support a complete ban of macros in the Tale?
- I don’t mind people using macros, but tend not to use them myself. I managed to get to Oracle of Seven in T6 without using macros, although I did eventually resort to doing thistles using VT towards the end. A complete ban on macros wouldn’t bother me at all.
Q8. Spouselog allows access to ban powers. Do you know who has access to your spouse account?
- Only if your game or rl spouse has access to your password and logs in as you. Changing your password is an effective way of regulating access if there are any concerns.
Q9. As DP do you think you should share your password? Do you think a DP should have access to other DP accounts?
- Not without good reason, and only for a specific and mutually agreed purpose and timeframe.
Q10. What other powers would you like to see DPs hold, in the interests of improving game play?
- I have been toying with the idea of DPs as advisors to the Events Team. They could then help with player queries, influence how and when events run, help make sure the prizes reflect the community’s needs as well as build greater confidence in sponsoring and leading player organized events.
Q11. What question would you like to be asked, and why?
- Can you help me with this? Because I always will, or find someone who can.
Q12. Closing statement.
- I believe that leadership is expressed in how you deal with others everyday, being available to provide support when needed and being prepared take a stand for the benefit of the majority.
- My advice to those considering who have yet to make a decision on who to vote for is to think about what sort of leader we need at this stage of the game. Do we need someone we all respect – who has been there, seen it all? Do we need someone with a fresh outlook who is naturally organized and connected? Do we need someone who balances game experience with people skills? The decision is yours.
