Test of the Excavator

Proposed test for the Discipline of the Human Body

Overview

This test would use existing art and materials already in A Tale in the Desert.
The object of this test is to find items which are found naturally in mines.

Demonstration

All gems must be mined by the person attempting to demonstrate this test.

  • 1 Huge Ruby
  • 1 Huge Diamond
  • 1 Huge Opal
  • 1 Huge Topaz
  • 1 Huge Emerald
  • 1 Huge Sapphire
  • 1 Huge Quartz

The Test

Each player would be required to mine from any type of mine one of the seven gem types in all sizes in each Egypt Month. Gems must be mined in the month the list was acquired. Gems mined prior to obtaining a list will not count toward passing the test. Failing to complete the list will cause the player to restart the list by visiting a University of the Human Body. Upon turning in the gems at University of the Human Body with all gems of the requested gem type in the players inventory, players will receive one of two flyaway messages:

  • The scientists thank you for the gems. (This message is for the first 7)
  • The scientists have all the gems they need.

Players who fail to complete the list will keep the gems. The first 7 to complete a list and return to a University of the Human Body (gems are removed from inventory) each month progresses to the next gem type. Successfully completed gem type will not be repeated.
Example of the proposed gem amounts to find is as follows:

  • 14 Huge (Gem Type)
  • 21 Large (Gem Type)
  • 49 Medium (Gem Type)
  • 128 Small (Gem Type)

All gems must be mined by the player attempting to pass the test (similar to Oyster Catcher). The player who breaks the node or removes the gem from a water mine is the player who has mined the gem. Existing uses for the gems would not be effected by this test.
Example: Players would still be able to use gems found by others to perform a wedding, buy skills, etc.
Players would get a random gem type to locate at the University of the Human Body in the same manner players get a list for Fisherman, Darkest Night and Ritual Tattoo.
Only 1 gem type per month is permitted regardless if the player advances. Both advancing players and players who failed to advance must get a new gem type each month.
It is the players responisibily to keep track of the number of gems in inventory and if the gems are valid for passing the test. In the event that the player has the wrong number of gems, types of gems, or has gems mine by others, the player will get a popup which states, "Your gems don't meet the requirements for this test."

Passing the Test

To pass the test, players advance 7 times. At the end of 7 advances, the player will have mined all 7 gem types. A player can advance a total of 49 times. After every 7 advances, a player must choose a different attribute to modify unless the player chose to modify all.

Prohibited Actions

  • Players are prohibited from using gem glue or gem tables to alter the size of the gems in order to pass the test. The gems must be mined from any type of mine: sand mines, water mines, or ore mines.
