Jay's DP thoughts

Why do I want to be DP?

Let me first tell who I am. I'm in my late 40's and as a woman have a bit of unusual job: I'm a driving instructor, I learn people how to drive trucks/semitrailers and bus- to get their licence :). For years I have driven all over Europe myself and had my own trucking company for 12 years. So I'm used to work with people.

I'm playing since mid T4, where I was a total noob, but several nice players helped me a lot, like Rabble (who really got me hooked on the game), Darwishi, Blondie, Sonnenwanderer and also a few others, can't mention them all here:) and I'm certainly gonna be here when T7 starts I like doings tests, research, learn new stuff and try to help newbies as much as I have been helped.

2 tales in a row now I help as much as possible on research (Sterope and now 7 Lakes) - I will keep doing that next tale.

This tale for the first time I signed up for mod, have been helping others with herb/mushroom needs (not only guildies), tried to do leavened breadtest a few times now. If I see unknown names to me, wandering around, I usually run to them and see if they needs sigs, anyone can ask me to acro, I try to point people to a certain guild or help in any way I can (not only English), helping the cafe getting stocked up on food, ...

Atm, jus tfor fun and not getting bored, I doing the research at DOS :)

This tale I have been pursuing lots of tests also, on my name and on my spouse's name: Thunderstorm, but I also try to help others pass tests, by either help on how to do things if they get stuck or if they miss a certain mat or like tattoo, find the plants for them :)

I wrote a gear guide, you can find it on my user page, or on the mainpage, under the section guides: http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale6/Jaylenaeybarre%27s_gearbox_guide

Helped setting up a few gem's at the gemcuttingschool in 7L: 1350 -1056

New things that I learned here in T6: making gears, prospecting, making spirits, essences and hopefully one day use the chemlab real good :) A few things that I want to learn: making glass stuff like wineglass ..., blacksmithing, making wines

I don't think I have offended anyone sofar or have been rude to someone else.

Now why dp?

After 2.5 tales I feel I can really try to be a dp

Is is an honor to be dp? maybe, but it is indeed a 'job' with consequences, certainly if there are grieving issues that come up.

A question that always pops up: would you use a ban? Yes I certainly would, but ... only on "special occasions" - What is special though? Someone who intentionally blows up a chariot with explosives for the sole purpose of making everyone's in-game lives miserable for one. Another great example is a griefer who builds stuff (so that there can't be a cp expansion)(or verbal grief) who has been warned on a couple occasions to stop.

Off course only after an extensive research of why one did what he did (talk with the other dp's, found out how they solved issues in earlier tales)- but tbh I'm not inclined for someone to ban forever.

I'm maybe naive but I always try to think the best of people - off course if it happens twice or more AND he/she was notified about the troublecauing, by the same person then yes ban all together - imho no other things done is a threat for a ban Gaming supposed to be fun!

I also really hate people who get elected, and then quit the game a couple months later. (unless off course sickness, or other RL hassles) Nothing is more irritating to appoint the right person, and then to have them disappear when you need them the most, or worse yet not even show up to help with the monument at the end of the tale. From tale to tale you can see who got elected and then dissappeared for months because they run out on challenges or get bored - imh most of them who quit/leave is not because of RL hassles :(

Since people keep asking how many leaderships I passed: am lacking 1, due to not have pursued it before: dp

I really don't believe in the mentorship test, I don't want to 'stalk' people in trying to get me a shrine built, if they do, ok, if they don't so be it. Passing this test does not mean you are a very helpful char (remember only 7 needed) - even can be skipped by making alts and let them built for you :( - also mentorship shouldn't be about what one does for the community, but really for helping a newbie, otherwise there are some who can easily pass by default + some do lots of stuff for the community without mentioning it or even anyone knowing it

And imho even someone who doesn't pursue any test, can be a good dp- this game has so much to offer then just passing tests

DP: like I said earlier, only now I feel I can run for it

How to solve a problem: Well since there is a gh built, why not invite the parties involved to apply temporarily and all of them involved adress their issues in the guildchat, that way , immediately, all dp's can read up about the issue. Nothing more irritating to hear a issue 2hand or even more :(

Off course the above can only be done, if the parties involved agree in doing so.

If anyone still have other questions then please do not hesitate to contact me :)
