Process Conjecture and Thoughts

My issue is I do not know if we are seeking balance, natural motion, or violence.

It is my thought that we are trying to create something new, a tincutre, made from the four elements, through combinations of components. To me this implies creating a balance, or stability of existence. I feel here that in a way we are trying to create a reality box, or frame, containing opposing forces in elegant balance as to cause neither violent, nor natural motion. This could perhaps contain some force, or energy, or effect, that when acted upon with violence, then release the contained powers I.E. Create tincture as a balance, and thru the "violence" of consumption unleash the effect.

To this end, I intend to investigate how the relationship works, but first, I still need to learn Alchemical Maceration and build my Alembic and Assimilation Bath.

I feel the secret is locked in the type of spirits used. --Basilius 14:00, 21 January 2017 (EST)

More Useful Thoughts?

After further conversation by the Stranger Science Team with thestranger, we learned more of the details but now need a better nomenclature for the discussion. Snips from the conversation:

thestranger: When talking about balance, each object has a certain weight and is made up of these elements
thestranger: To turn lead into gold you would need to know the elemental weight of lead and gold, and then you could transmutate lento gold with the right mixture
thestranger: yes lead is heavier than gold
thestranger: There are only 4 elements, Fire, air, water, earth
thestranger: -2,-1,1,2
thestranger: maybe?
thestranger: Sun, moon, and stars are made up of these 4 elements
thestranger: the spirits are the water element
thestranger: that I am sure of
thestranger: so maybe -2 -1 0 -1
thestranger: my numbers are just hypothisizing
thestranger: -2 for fire as it floats -1 for air as it floats 0 for water as it does not and 1 for earth as it falls
thestranger: the season has changed
thestranger: The balance of mixtures will end up something like -9Qr1

Nomenclature

  • Everything is comprised of Four Elements [F]ire, [A]ir, [W]ater, [E]arth
  • Everything has an Elemental Weight or "EW"
  • Things with positive weight naturally fall
    • things with more Earth and Water
    • [F+A] < [W+E]
  • Things with negative weight naturally rise
    • things with more Fire and Air
    • [F+A] < [W+E]
  • Define Elemental Weight in terms of individual, but grouped Elements
    • EW = [F,A][W,E]
      • preparing for the issue of balance

Is he is saying:

  • Sun is Fire
  • Moon is Air
  • Spirits are Water
  • Stars are Earth

Must be a scale range.

I believe that the Components Represent Elemental Weight Ranges. High elemental weights are Components of the Stars Low to 0 or Balanced weights are Components of Spirit Slightly Negative, may also Balanced? weights are components of Air and Very Negative weights are Components of Fire

Each component will add it's Elemental Matrix value to the final result, and the tincture will be based on the combinative value.

Now I see two possible systems here

  1. Each Components Elemental Matrix is added, scaled by amount of that component, into a common mixture, and the sum of all elements, counter scaled by the sum of all component amounts
    • Moon[FAWE]xAmount + Sun[FAWE]xAmount + Spirits[FAWE]xAmount + Stars[FAWE]xAmount = Product
      • Product [F] = ([Moon[F]Amount + Sun[F]Amount + Spirits[F]Amount + Stars[F]Amount) / TotalAmount
  2. Each component total EW weight, determines by scale how much individual affect that Component has on the final
    • Such that a spcific Component of Star might have +2[E] affect by being heavier than a different Component of Star which might have a +1[E] affect
      • leaving the amount of each component affecting the final how??

What the hell did he mean by "-9Qrl"??? --Basilius 19:14, 22 January 2017 (EST)

Re: 9Qr1, check this link: http://www.binarydecimal.com/9qr1-base35/ Not the inverse but, is this useful in any way? --Sedjet 0041, 23 Jan 2017 (CST)

Alembic Work

Reference the Alembic page.

Ok so here is what is going on with the Alembic, it's a very simple device really.

On the left, you have the flow control buttons, top to bottom, smallest to largest.

Next you have the spirits gauge.

On the far right you have the distillate sink.

Add your wine/beer. Over the sink you will notice the total spirit weight of what you have added. You can add as much as you like at once, but I strongly recommend go 1 at a time to control your usage.

Based on the level of the Spirits Gauge, and the what level of Flow is selected, a certain amount of Spirits "cooks" off, reducing the overall spirit weight, and incrementing the sink weight.

If the Flow level is set to the smallest, or top setting, this value changes by 1, or the largest by 8.

As the sink weight increases, a dark circle will form and the purity of your spirit will be identified.

Purity
Ra
Life
Air
Fire
Water
Earth

That is of course listed highest purity on top (Ra), lowest purity on bottom (Earth)

At any time you can throw out what you have gathered in the sink, or you can reverse the flow, stop the process and collect the spirits gathered in the sink.

How is your purity determined? What is really going on here?

There appear to be two tick clocks running on the alembic. One that adjust the Spirit Gauge (up or down depending on setting), on ever y Gauge Tick the Gauge changes.

What appears to be a separately timed tick, slightly off set from the Gauge Tick, is the Flow Tick. When the Flow Tick happens, is when the sink increment can happen.

To steal from the Alembic page:

Please note that these are the levels to aim for, not the ranges, many thanks to Gumby for the info.

Alembic Levels.png

End theft

They were very close to right. It is actually ranges though.

What happens is this -

  1. Gauge Tick Occurs, adjusting the level of the Gauge.
  2. Flow Tick Occurs
    • Depending on the Flow Settings 1-8 dbn of Spirit is added to the Sink Value
    • Each dbn has a chance of being 1 of the 2 (maybe 3?) nearest Spirits (Worm, Grain, Etc) to the Gauge Marker's position
    • Each dbn is calculated independently, if the Gauge is near Worm and Grain, and Flow is 4 the result could be 1 Grain and 3 Worm, 2 & 2, or all 4 one and none of the other
  3. The Sink Value increases in weight, and the rarity is affected by the ratio between the two spirits.
    • Assumptions based on observation - Ra 100% pure. 95-99% Life, 85-95% Air 75-85% %Water, 60-75% Fire, 50-60% Earth

By letting Grain spirits cook low on the gauge with wide flow, I can muddy it to Earth quality, until it drops into being Worm Spirits. Then, by cooking at higher temperature, with narrow flow, adding only Grain spirits, bring it back up to water.

But your overall weight makes a difference. If you have 87 points of Worm and 124 points of Grain spirits in your sink you'll be at 211 Dbn of Grain Spirits of Earth (58% grain 42% Worm) you would need to add 7 points of Grain Spirits to your sink (218 Spirits, 60% grain, 40% Worm) to bring your Grain Spirits up to Fire, and nearly 1000 Grain Spirits to bring the quality up to the Air/Life range.

The key is to know your ranges, and control your flow. When the gauge tick hits, immediately adjust your flow, wide if you are in the range you want, narrow if you are not.

To create Grey Spirits appears to require 3 or more Spirit Types, (Wood, Grain, and Worm for example) I am not sure if there is a minimum floor% require, or if just the presence of the third spirit is enough.
