Cat Ladies

Guild Hall of The Cat ladies and Mens of Egypt is located at 4 Corners Chariot Stop. We currently have cat houses in 7 Lakes, River Plains, Old Egypt and South Egypt. Contact a cat person listed below and then come with them to the nearest cat house to your wish kitty made. If you do not like the cat on display, contact a cat lady and they will help you breed your unique cat.

Cats can be created by these Cat Ladies/Men:

  • Asheara -GM lives in River Plains
  • Bellah - GM lives in Seven Lakes
  • ReddRuby lives in River Plains
  • KalmKitty lives in River Plains
  • Ariella - GM lives in 7 Lakes

  • Cats will follow their owners everywhere, even if you warp or swim (they run on top of the water). On logout the cat will go into your inventory. Or click your cat and pick up to put in inventory. Click Self/Drop to put your kitty out of inventory. Cats can be guilded but whomever has cat on logging will have it go into their inventory!
  • Click the cat and 'Pet' it. Kitty displays some cute behaviors!
  • Cats that are higher priced than $100 can be bred by a cat person but must be held until Pluribus can finalize payment manually.
  • Cats $400 and over will be with you through every tale...your forever kitty!

Cat Sizes

From smallest to largest: River, Desert, Woodland, Grassland, Savannah, Coastal, and Jungle. Due to payments over $100 being done manually by Pluribus, cats can be bred by cat persons and held until Pluribus finalizes payment. PRICES LISTED UNDER SIZES ARE BASE PRICES.

Some comments from Teppy on ownership and usage: (Dec 19th, 2010)

Pharaoh: Ownership is separate, and controls who can pick a cat up.
Pharaoh: So if you give a cat to someone (change ownership), they can pick the cat up, put it down, etc.
Pharaoh: Guild owned cats should also work, but the cat will stay with whoever last put it down.
Pharaoh: And when that person logs out, the cat will go into their inventory.
Pharaoh: Cats won't stay in Egypt when their master (person who last put them down) logs off. That was intentional because otherwise we'd end up with herds of meowing cats, and they'd wander, get lost, etc.
Pharaoh: I think I may need to add a "let cat into the guild hall" to deal with the case where a guild member wants to "borrow" a cat and then put it back in the guild hall.
Pharaoh: You can already take a cat out of a guild hall if you're an elder. (Or whatever level it is that allows taking from guilds.)
Pharaoh: It's still an owned object, and can be removed from a GH without changing ownership.

Please add your questions about your cat below and we will try to get them addressed

Q: Under Cat > Ownership... > Permission for Use... there's a "Public Use" option. I don't want other people to be able to take the cat, just to pet it. Does Public Use still prevent people from taking the cat? Oofafwet 11:19, 6 July 2012 (EST)

Do you have suggestions for the 'cat' option? Please make them reasonable - cats are not going to learn how do run your cc hearth!

A cat should be able to catch desert rats, thus replacing a desert rat trap. This is just my opinion. -Solaris

Rambo seems to lag way behind me when I'm running on the roads (+2sp). Sometimes I can't see him and I think he's lost. Is there a way to collect or pick up your cat fast? It is hard to target him with mouse because he moves a lot. Probably chasing the mouse but I'd like to be able to pick him up fast. Zhukuram 03:11, 28 January 2012 (EST)

Suggestion: Add to default animation. Cats should sometimes sit down, sometimes go meatloaf, sometimes roll around in the grass, sometimes groom themselves. Oofafwet 11:17, 6 July 2012 (EST)

Suggestion: Modification to pet animation. One of the animations for Pet appears to show the cat scratching at the ground with one paw. I don't know any cat that does that! The animation should show the cat clawing at the ground with both paws, as if on carpet or a scratching post. Oofafwet 11:22, 6 July 2012 (EST)

Suggestion: Modification to pet abilities. If you have a cat, your chances of finding an insect should go up, since cats like to pounce on bugs. Maybe cats could even occasionally bring you a beetle and drop it at your feet. --Oofafwet 09:50, 9 July 2012 (EST)

Colors:

Most 'normal' cat colors are available, plus some pretty strange ones (see some Tuxedo colors below). The more 'rarely' colored, or unnatural the color (like purple), the more the cats will tend to be. Some patterns don't allow for color to show very well, like the Bengal and Havanna.
