Beer Guide

Yeast is a Microbe found while brewing beer. There are 51 yeasts found in the game.

See the database at http://66.228.48.199/atitd/beer/t6/ for a list of known locations and recipes for various yeasts. Feel free to add to it!

Yeast Table

  • Max Alcohol is the maximum alcohol that this yeast can produce on its own. (It may be less in a multi-yeast brew.) This is actually a derived characteristic from Alcohol Threshold and a few other factors.
  • Alcohol Threshold is the amount of alcohol in a brew above which the yeast will stop working.
  • Growth Rate is used internally by the program to govern how quickly the yeast grows each step during fermentation. Growth Rate is always 10%, 20%, 30%, or 40%.
  • Glucose Floor and Maltose Floor are the minimum amounts of sugar (glucose and maltose) which the yeast will leave untouched in the brew.
  • Vitamin Ratio shows the # of alcohol produced by the yeast for each 1 vitamin eaten.
  • Vitamin Threshold is the vitamin level below which the yeast will stop taking "bites" of sugar and vitamins. Actual vitamins may drop below the threshold on the last bite.
  • Orange, Banana, Cherry, Date, Honey, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Grassy, and Nasty are flavors created by the yeast when malt is present. The numbers shown are the amounts created at full alcohol production. (Honey and Grassy flavors can also be created by the ingredients.)
  • Bread, Grapefruit, Pear, Blackberry, Prune, Jasmine, Clove, Vanilla, and Herbal are flavors created by the yeast when wheat is present. The numbers shown are the amounts created at full alcohol production. (Bread and Herbal flavors can also be created by the ingredients.)

Notable flavors are highlighted in green. These occur if a yeast can produce 200 or more of a certain flavor (or 100 or more, in the case of Grassy and Nasty -- these will ruin a brew in quantities of 100 or more).

Note: The max alcohol and the growth rate may be different for different spots, even though it is the same yeast. -Solaris
