Bio

I am a stranger in this land. My people are from the east of here but were driven out by invaders from farther east and mostly scattered or captured. I come to a neutral nation fleeing this war and wish only to live my life in peace, making things with my hands to contribute to society.

I am named for my great-great grandmother Meital. According to the stories passed down from my parents, she grew up in a land far from here and traveled back to her ancestral home only to find that a great famine had ravaged it. She also sought a living in Egypt until the land had recovered enough to return. Her skill with glass and metals gained in Egypt helped her find a husband and make a living once she returned, and that trade has been passed down in our family.

Women of our people often practice trades like weaving, but rarely glasswork or metals. Still, due to her example, it is accepted in our family that women may take up these trades as well. I had barely begun my apprenticeship when my life was turned upside-down though. I wish to pursue this trade and whatever else I may learn while I am here.

In the language of my people, Meital means "dew drops." I also wish to fulfill my name and help bring water and new growth to the desert by whatever means possible. My homeland may be fairly lush compared to Egypt, but water is never wasted there either. May my deeds be to the community as dew on the land, nourishing and quenching.
