Expectations and Rules

These are the expectations and rules of SA Waterworks.

1. This is a drama free zone! Drama will not be tolerated.

2. Contributions towards the building of the pump, towers, and upgrades will earn the contributor points.

See Points Values for what contributions are worth.

3. Guild hierarchy and structure

  • A fixed number of towers will be built all at the same time. Doing this allows more towers to be built, as a group can accomplish more than an individual. The number of towers is decided by the Elders/Patriarchs, and is based on the amount of materials needed; The faster the towers can be built, the better. For example, the first group will build the pump, and 20 towers.
  • During the building of the pump, Elders of SA Waterworks are also considered Patriarchs.
  • All pump/towers/upgrades will be built after all materials have been collected by the group.
  • Only the top (20) contributors will build the first (20) towers. Individuals may opt to build in a position based on their contribution points. e.g., the more contributions an individual makes, the more points they will earn, the earlier they may build in the build order. If an individual passes on their right to build a tower before other members (assuming they have earned more points than the other members), they may build a tower at any point in the tower order beyond their forgone position.
  • Once all pump/towers/upgrades have been built, the Patriarchs of the SA Waterworks will actively recruit suitable Patriarchs to take their position as Patriarchs from outside the Guild. Once this is done, the new Patriarchs will actively recruit new Members to form a new 20 (or less) individual group for the next set of towers/upgrades. Members who could not build during the previous group because their points were not high enough will have their points carried over to the new group.
  • At this point, previous Patriarchs and Members are considered retired. Retired Members may quit the guild, or if they wish to remain in the guild for the social atmosphere, continued donations to new members, etc., they may be moved to Associate status. Retired Patriarchs will be demoted to Fellow if they choose to stay in the guild. Elders will remain in their role so that SA Waterworks to manage memberships, and will advise new members when possible.
  • All Guild-owned warehouses except the Membership Fee Warehouse will be Take for Patriarchs, and Stash by Members. The Membership Fee Warehouse will be Stash by Public, and Take by Patriarchs.

4. Disputes will be handled by Patriarchs.

5. Group contributions will have the points divided up as determined by the person who turns in the contribution.

6. Contributions are only considered good once they are stashed into a guild warehouse, the contribution reported to a Patriarch, and recorded on the wiki by a Patriarch.

Group A's Expectations

Members may wonder why we have such a strict number of towers (20) for the first round of aqueduct towers. The reality is that the Test is a race against time. We are competing with other players to build the SA Aqueduct system. While we cannot prevent members from building towers out of order, or after the first 20 towers have been erected, we encourage members to wait until at least 10 or 20 more towers are able to go up at the same time. Why at the same time? As we work as a team, we are able to accomplish much more. We can raise previous towers if needed, or raise the pump. We can make sure that everyone in the group has what is needed to erect a tower at the same time, which allows for a better success rate. More people will be inclined to plant veggies at the last tower. Work as a team, pass as a team.

This is something that I've talked to people like Lill, Pacer, and Telanoc about. They have seen pure point systems fail for later builders. At the same time, we wanted to implement a point system that will dictate who gets to build in which position. The point system encourages faster building, and rewards the hardest workers for their efforts.

As a summary of our system, only those who contribute enough points for the top 20 positions will build towers. The other members who could not build towers will save their points for the next group of 10-20 players. The current leadership of SA Waterworks will also have to pass off the leadership to others if they did not build a tower themselves, so those who do not make the first 20 cut, will also be considered to lead the next group.
