Renewing SACFAR

SACFAR in its current state is a loose collective of folks just trying to maintain what was built by others to this point. Today Lill raised the topic of expanding our member base a bit and bringing the 'R' back to SACFAR. This page is intended to share ideas on that subject.

Three Goals

The way I (Numaris) see it, a more active SACFAR will have 3 goals. Consider this a Mission Statement of sorts.

Membership

We'll need to recruit local players willing to pitch in on research. We should also recruit newbies... we've got some knowledgeable and helpful folks, and a whole lot of good resources for new players to provide a mutually beneficial situation.

Facilities

We've got a good base of compounds/buildings, but there's always more that can be added. Apart from the obvious maintaining and expanding of public facilities, it might be good to set up a members-only compound with buildings that would be useful for research but aren't easily made public (Chemical Bath, Flax Gins, Distaffs, Sawmill, etc.).

Research

SACFAR hasn't really been involved in research as long as I've been here, but I can imagine from the name that it was originally intended to. If we can succeed with the first two goals, we'll be in a good position to make this one work.

Proposed use of Ranks

Here's a proposal for how ranks would be used in an expanded SACFAR. Please discuss.

Elder

Reserved for the one or two people responsible for making critical decisions about the organization.

Patriarch

Other trusted, established players given the ability to modify compounds and buildings. I believe things are already set up so that Patriarchs can do most anything. This group as I see it would consist mostly of the current group of elders, minus the couple that would appropriately keep the actual Elder title.

Kinsman

Active members with an established presence in the game, similar to Patriarchs but without the ability/responsibility to directly maintain/expand the facilities. Could be leaders of smaller initiatives like specific tech research. (Folks who are experienced and don't mind leading, but don't want a lot of responsibility.)

Member

Basic membership, with ability to use all members-only buildings.

Initiate

Maybe unused, maybe used until someone can be trained on the use of certain buildings (like Chemical Bath) before actually giving them permissions to use it.
