There are many calls for improvements and, at this time, much concern over a falling population. You could say ATITD is reflecting the current economic decline globally! Clearly we need action to improve this. I believe an increased and continued population would help many issues. Some tests are becoming too easy and others too hard, because of the low population. Also, let's face it, a higher population equals more financial stability for eGenesis and that in turn means more improvements in the game, we hope.

I observe that most of the people who have left the game recently have done so borne out of a certain level of frustration at the various issues within the game. I would make use of what I believe are very good mentoring skills and conflict resolution skills to try and stem the tide of people who are thinking of leaving the game. Sometimes the frustration can be avoided with a little help on a tricky test or skill. I will not profess to "have all the answers" to the problems or to have the most experience out of the candidates, but on the other hand I don't believe they are the most important qualifications either. I have the passion for the game, for helping people and, more importantly perhaps, for listening to them. If elected I will happily listen to any suggestions for improvements to the game and do anything I can to help with them.

I wish the best of luck to all the candidates and hope that the best candidate is successful, whomsoever that may be.

Revision as of 21:47, 25 March 2010

Final Candidates for Demi-Pharaoh March 2010 (2nd Election) include: blondie, Darwishi, Stevehotep, RosieRazor, DustiTwister

Some basic questions candidates can expect to answer in any given DP contest:

  • Tell us a little about yourself and what you like about ATITD
  • What you feel the role of DP is
  • Why you think people should vote for you

Other Debate Questions that have come up in the past:

  • Can you give an example of how you handled a conflict you were involved in? And/or can you give an example of how you handled a conflict you were not directly involved in?
  • What is more important in a DP: their ability to handle bans responsibly or their not taking advantage of their immunity from DP bans?
  • What types of things would you take into account when faced with a situation involving explosives or griefing if you were the only active DP?

Have a question for the candidates? Feel free to post it here or chat it to Dreasimy to have it asked during the debate if you cannot attend or prefer not to ask it yourself.

Candidates - Feel free to post any thoughts you'd like to share below.

Who is Stevehotep?

A little information about me first perhaps. I am from England in the "other world" and I am of a calm demeanor with a passion for helping others in any way I can. I bring this personality into the game and therefore into my aspirations to help Egypt further by being a Demi-Pharoah.

What does being a DP mean?

My beliefs in terms of what the role encompasses are those of a helper, a mentor to others (both of which of course don't require one to be a DP but having the title announces to others who don't know you, that you are there to help) and as a mediator and an arbitor of Conflict Resolution.

The Ban Stick

There is, of course, the subject of what has become known as "The Ban Stick", i.e. the ability of a DP to ban people. In all my time as a player here I have never seen anyone banned and nor do I believe it to be necessary except in extreme circumstances. I cannot think of a circumstance where a ban would be my first course or action, or even my second.

If it did ever come to a stage where I was thinking that a ban may be necessary, it is in my nature to discuss this with other DPs who have been around longer than I to canvass their help/opinions before taking such an action.

Improving the Game

There are those that have helped me master something I once thought was impossible and I am eternally grateful for that. I shall continue to "pass this on" and try to help others learn new things

In Closing

I will not profess to "have all the answers" to the problems or to have the most experience out of the candidates, but on the other hand I don't believe they are the most important qualifications either. I have the passion for the game, for helping people and, more importantly perhaps, for listening to them. If elected I will happily listen to any suggestions for improvements to the game and do anything I can to help with them.

I wish the best of luck to all the candidates and hope that the best candidate is successful, whomsoever that may be.
