Event Overview

Egypt-wide, all day Dowsing Party on Saturday, March 13th

The focus is on dowsing as much land as possible.

Our goal is to find all the ores which we can locate (Copper, Iron, and Tin) so that we have a better idea of where to search for other rarer ores, and of course primarily Silver.

Basic Dowsing Guidelines

Dowsing is how we find where to put our mines. Dowsing is actually very simple, the problem is- it's really time consuming. That's why it shouldn't be a one man effort. Here is a quick-start guide on dowsing:

Overview

We're only going to do the simplest form of dowsing - tracing Copper and Iron veins. What we want to do is map out what is going on with these simple veins and then try to deduce where other metals might be. For many types of mine, the end of the vein is "capped" with another metal. Additionally, if you trace a vein and suddenly find it disappears for a few coordinates, it's very likely another metal is in that gap.

So with your help, we will find as many of these hotspots as possible.

Requirements

Actual Dowsing

  1. Find a vein to trace
    1. Look at the RY Dowsing Map to see what we know so far
    2. Look around for a mine nearby
    3. Go somewhere you feel lucky
  2. Click the Dowse icon and cross your fingers that it says something other than "you detect nothing but sand" (in the Main channel)
    1. if not, go back to the prior step and try again. If you were standing on a mine, it may be a metal type we don't have the perception to find in this exercise.
  3. If it says you sense Copper or "something unrecognizable" (which means Iron right now) note the coordinates the message provides and the type of metal you found

Now that you know you're on a vein you can trace, you start the time consuming part:

  1. Move 2 coords in the direction you think the vein goes
    1. Use the mines nearby as guides about the shape of the vein or
    2. Guess which way it goes
  2. Mark the result
    1. If you dowsed Sand, drop 1 Sand, go back to the prior location and guess again
    2. If you dowsed the same metal again, drop a Hit mark (1 Grass/Straw or Thorns) and note the location and metal type
      • Tip - you will use the hit marks to line up the vein on the screen and help you guess where to go next
    3. If you dowsed a different metal type, note the location and metal, but drop a different marker (Wood, Thorns, or an Onion...), go back to the prior location and then guess again--looking for the first metal type.

  1. Repeat this until you can dowse everywhere around a metal location and only see Sand
  2. Report this location to the Dowse Party Leader (Ra)

  1. Head in the general direction the vein was going and try to find the vein again after the skip
    • If you can't pick it up - make sure you've reported the last known location to the Dowse Party Leader (Ra) and go find another vein!

Posting/Recording Results

In order to make the best use of all the information being collected, we must stay organized to keep things in order and accessible.

  • When dowsing, please record you results as following : ex. 1000, 5000, Iron (1000, 5000)

Results will be posted on the Dowsing Map after all the findings have been compiled.
