Found on most waterways with the Slate action button. When slate is picked up, a random position within approximately a 3x3 square of your position is picked. If the random square is a valid position for slate, a new slate piece is placed there. This is why sometimes you will get more than one slate in a row. Also, once you find slate, search around first for the respawned slate before heading away.

- 2 needed to make a Stone Blade with Stone Blade Fabrication
