**yea sorry, i didn't log in yesterday - no acidity today tho so that's good (maybe the spike before was from multiple burns so close together to test colors? who knows - oh or maybe they burned the full 2 hours the first time & less this time cause they knew what color they wanted, that makes sense!)

sheeps

Here's a list of me checking in on my sheep pen daily

pen 1

  • 2009/01/23 5/5 sheep, 22 dung, 1 acidity
  • 2009/01/24 4/6 sheep, 37 dung, 1 acidity, Y1 Akhet IV-30 1:57PM
    • dung removed, no plans to make CC or burn firepit today but I like to keep dung under 40
  • 2009/01/25 5/5 sheep, 12 dung, 0 acidity, Y1 Peret I-2 1:21PM
  • 2009/01/25 5/4 sheep, 19 dung, 1 acidity, Y1 Peret I-3 2:56PM
    • ever since I started keeping dung under 40, acidity has been 1 or 0. I may let it go over that again, just for the record. Because the last time I did let it go over 40, I suddenly had acidity over 1k, but it subsided with time that same day after I removed the dung. It's not enough as 'proof' but I think it's likely to have been a cause.
  • 2009/01/26 3/3 sheep (no births? how odd), 31 dung (removed), 1 acidity
  • 2009/01/27 5/3 sheep, 14 dung, 1 acidity
  • 2009/01/28 3/5 sheep, 32 dung, 0 acidity
  • 2009/01/29 4/3 sheep, 38 dung, 1 acidity, Y1 Peret I-13
  • 2009/01/29 5/4 sheep, 45 dung, 1 acidity Y1 Peret I-14
  • 2009/01/30 3/5 sheep, 61 dung, 1 acidity Y1 Peret I-17
  • 2009/01/31 3/4 sheep, 73 dung, 4801 acidity Y1 Peret I-19 11:28 AM (leaving the dung in pen still)
  • 2009/02/01 3/7 sheep, 93 dung, 3001 acicity Y1 Peret I-22 6:01 AM ( odd that acidity went down)
  • 2009/02/01 4/4 sheep, 99 dung, 2501 acidity Y1 Peret I-23 2:20 AM
    • I'm taking the dung out now - acidity ahs been going down while it's in the pen, can't imagine what good it would do me to leave it in there.
    • I'm also going to lite my firepit today.
  • 2009/02/02 5/4 sheep, 18 dung, 1201 acidity Y1 Peret I-25 4:36PM
  • 2009/02/03 4/4 sheep, 30 dung, 1 acidity Y1 Peret I-28 4:21 am
  • 2009/02/03 5/5 sheep, 49 dung (removed), 1 acidity Y1 Peret I-30 7:31pm
  • 2009/02/05 4/5 sheep, 17 dung, 1 acidity
  • 2009/02/06 3/5 sheep, 31 dung, 1 acidity
  • 2009/02/08 4/4 sheep, 53 dung, 1 acidity y1 peret II-10 11:37am
  • 2009/02/09 5/4 sheep, 22 dung, 1 acidity Y1 Peret II-13 10:26 PM
  • 2009/02/10 4/6 sheep, 21 dung, 1 acidity Y1 Peret II-16 3:31 pm
  • 2009/02/11 3/6 sheep, 39 dung, 2001 acidity Y1 Peret II-19 1:20 am
    • remember it got over 40 dung a few days ago
    • removing dung - I expect the acidity of the area to drop within this day anyway, it retreats quickly
  • 2009/02/12 3/4 sheep, 14 dung, 1001 acidity Y1 Peret II-21 4:22 pm
  • 2009/02/13 6/3 sheep, 31 dung, 1 acidity Y1 Peret II-24 1:45 pm
  • 2009/02/14 5/4 sheep, 43 dung (removed), 1 acidity Y1 Peret II-26 10:11 am

  • 2009/02/23 3/3 sheep, 19 dung, 1 acidity Y1 Peret III-20 12:08 am

    • there's raeli ovens not terribly far to either side of this camp - they've both done testing runs (which makes sense because they're newly built) 1 was like the day before yesterday & the other was yesterday - so I suspect this acidity came from that. With luck they won't burn too often - not that I've really seen major problems with acidity... this is the camp that got up to 50k once & I was still able to plant flax with no problems.

    • (testing right in middle of pen today, I'm usually more lazy about that but this is close enough to where I was trying out new flax that I thought I'd get more detailed)

  • 2009/04/21 6/4 sheep, 56 dung, 1 acidity, Y1 Shemu IV-19 8:14 pm
    • yea sorry, i didn't log in yesterday - no acidity today tho so that's good (maybe the spike before was from multiple burns so close together to test colors? who knows - oh or maybe they burned the full 2 hours the first time & less this time cause they knew what color they wanted, that makes sense!)

  • 2009/04/23 5/5 sheep, 38 dung, 1 acidity, Y1 Shemu IV-24 11:11 pm

pen 2

Pen 2 is near a camel dorm owned by someone else, acidity due to dung might come from there.

    • planning on testing the dung/acidity thing here, it's near open water & a few trees & not terribly far from mines (tho shows no heavy metal - might be due to mines nearest being unused)

  • 2009/03/19 5/5 sheep, 301 dung, 1 acidity Shemu I-23 4: am
    • I find it interesting that this pen never shows acidity dispite all the dung in it but if I leave more than 40 dung in the other pen, the acidity starts to rise. Perhaps it has to do with proximity to this body of water. This pen is very close to both water and mining. The other is not far from water, but still further away than this one is. And while there's mines nearby, they are sand mines.

Ariella#8

4331 -447 Y1 Shemu III-8 2:29 - 3:12 am

  • tryinig my usual flaXing area first. Before anything my acidity here is 2826 all tadpoles survive & water at 100/100
seeds first because I haven't got many =p
  • small samples - immediately after i seem to have no ill effects, same testing results as above
bah it's late, i'm work on this another time

4330 -448 Y1 Shemu III-10 4:00 pm

  • begining acidity: 1526
  • short term flaxing same acidity (seeing as this is lower than yesterday it's possible that it's just dropping back down from the raeli oven burn the other day - I kinda think the acidity is just a red herring anyway. It's not the cause of anything, just a symptom & a rather unimportant one at that)
I expect little to no problem flaxing here (just as I've had no problem flaxing here for ages) due to other circumstances of this location. To be thorough, I suppose I should run waterlevel & mineral tests too but I find they come out normal here no matter what I do (yay for picking good locations!)
  • both NG & OE grow here with no problem
  • groundwater & heavy metals come out fine (100/100 & all tadpoles live)

4331 -448 Y1 Shemu III-12 3:38 pm

  • acidity test shows 526 so I suspect the acidity in previous tests results from the raeli burn & is slowly easing off now.
  • If growing Ariella#8 were to cause acidity itself, there should have been some increase rather than the regular daily decrease.
  • just to be certain, I'll continue growing ariella#8 here for a while before seeking out someone elses variety of seed (I've heard Forgiving has a good one & Zaniac has a good one as well.
