Who is Babu?
Babu is the grandchild of Ralamachus, his parents (without thinking) gave him a different name than his grandfather! An active member of the Sinai community Babu has many interests. An elder in Dude! Where's My Sheep? Babu is always willing to help new immigrants navigating Egypt. Always feel free to /chat to ask a question or just strike up a conversation. He expects to participate heavily in Body, Leadership, Thought, and Worship.
Thoughts on DP
My thoughts are DP are pretty simple and straightforward. As the DP I would want to help people who ask for my help, but I would make certain to stay out of disputes that I wasn't welcomed to. I feel that the DP should be available and willing, but I don’t think the DP should use their title as carte blanche to stick their noses into everyone’s problems.
If a ban has to be used, then it should be the least harsh temp ban possible, and everything should escalate from there. Players deserve the opportunity to learn and grow, and sometimes a stern warning is all it really takes.
While I recognize that some people want to expand the role of the DP, and involve the DP in several aspects of the game, I am not one of those people. I’ve liked some of the “government” ideas that people have proposed using the DP, but I don’t think they are necessary. Given the size of our community I don’t think we need to add any additional layers of bureaucracy. The legal system provides players with an outlet to shape the game, and while some might say it isn’t perfect, I feel like it’s much better than most MMOs.
I personally think that the DP should play often. I don’t think the DP needs to play 24/7, but I would like the DP to be available on a regular basis. I try to log at least 2 hours nightly, but between work, my fiancée, and living in Las Vegas that’s not always possible. However, I am on pretty consistently especially at night (PST.)
