No blacksmiths have expressed interest in this so far.  It's free Metal Blue for the winners!  We'll see if any want to join contest.  If not, I'll run another speed acro line.  They are always popular and don't cost nothing.

I'm thinking of hosting a blacksmith challenge.

I'd supply blacksmiths with enough metal blue to make one hatchet, one wedge and one shovel each.  They would have 15 minutes to complete the best shovel possible, then another 15 minutes for the hatchet and then 15 more minutes for the wedge.  The blacksmith who makes the highest quality item would win 100 additional metal blue.  This means a blacksmith winning in all 3 categories would win 300 metal blue.  The blacksmiths without the best items would still get to keep their product.

The only catch is the winning products would then be raffled off to anyone (blacksmith and onlookers) who attend the challenge.  The cost of each raffle ticket would be 1 flax and only 1 ticket per person.  I figure this would help push blacksmiths to further their skills and maybe get a few really high quality items into the hands of players who otherwise couldn't afford them.

Are any blacksmiths interested in such a contest?  To minimize my metal cost, only blacksmiths capable of making 9K items could participate in any category.

Event Schedule

Saturday April 18th Reactory 101, Saqqarah (740, -1680), 3PM EDT (7PM GMT)

Do you hate your reactory? Do you wish you never heard about alloys? Then this event should help.

We'll gather around a reactory and I'll go over the basic rules of using them. This is hands-on training with students getting to keep the brass, bronze, and steel they make. Base metals and resins will be provided but bring 100 charcoal if you can.
