The thistle voids include 10 Pot->2.5 Bio and last from Shemu I-11 to Shemu I-17.

Please note that the information on this page may sometimes be out of date. I play a lot but can't always keep the timers for tanks and void information up to date. Feel free to confirm the status of a particular tank by asking me about it in-game.

How does this work? Here's are the steps:

  1. Check this page to see which gardens are hatching and what type of thistles they need.
  2. Use the posted recipes to grow the needed thistles at your camp or at the public thistle gardens at my camp in Saqqarah (750, -1665).
  3. Stash the needed thistles in the appropriate chest at the base of the silkworm farm.
  4. Chat me and leave a message noting how much thistle you placed in each chest. DO NOT CLOSE THIS CHAT
  5. I'll feed the silkworms your thistles and update the chat once the cocoons are done.
  6. Pickup the raw silk at my camp and close the chat. You get 1-2 debens of raw silk per deben of thistles you provide.

Still confused? Read the details at the bottom of this page.

Here's some more info about thistles and silk gardens.

  1. Check this page to see which gardens currently require feeding and what type of thistles they need.
    • Farms are initially 'laying eggs'. This lasts 12 hours. Nothing can be done during this phase
    • After the eggs are laid, farms are 'hatching eggs'. This lasts 3 days. Thistles can be added during this phase
    • After the eggs hatch, the cocoons are spun. This lasts 12 hours. Nothing can be done during this phase
    • Finally, the cocoons are done and raw silk can be removed from the tank. Meanwhile, new eggs are laid
  2. Grow the needed thistles at your camp or at the public thistle gardens at my camp in Saqqarah (750, -1665).
    • I'll post the recipes for each silkworm farm as I figure them out.
    • Each thistle can have up to six different vitamins in it. They are ascorbin, biotin, carotene, folin, niacin, pyroxidine, and thiamine and are abbreviated A, B, C, F, N, P, and T.
    • Each crop of thistles takes 4 minutes to grow and yields 5 thistles
    • The vitamins in each crop of thistles range from 0 to 99. A value from 0 to 20 is low, 21 to 79 is medium, 80 to 99 is high and noted as "-" (low), "~" (medium), or "+" high.
    • While thistle are growing, vitamins get converted back and forth based on 20 different chemical reactions. Some reactions don't work in certain weeks. These reactions are called 'voids'.
    • Thistle voids change every Egyptian week. Some thistle types are difficult to grow since they depend on different voids. As such, the recipes to grow any particular thistle may chance from week to week.
    • You need one thistle seed to grow each batch of 5 thistles. When you harvest the thistles, you'll get 2 thistle seeds. As such, you'll gradually wind up with more and more seeds.
    • Some recipes only work at night and others only work during the day. Others work equally well at day or night.
    • Most recipes require water. If you are using the public thistle gardens, you'll need to bring your own jugs. Some very rare recipes may require dung or saltpeter. The requirements for each recipe are noted at the end of the instructions.
    • It can take up to 4 days for a silkworm farm to cycle from start to end. Look at the timers on each farm to figure out how close it is to maturing.
    • If you are in a rush for raw silk, I may have extra raw silk from the prior week's batch. This means I can provide you with the raw silk as soon as you provide me with the thistles.
  6. Pickup the raw silk at my camp and close the chat. You get 1-2 debens of raw silk per deben of thistles you provide. The exact amount is based on the yield from that tank.
