Guidelines

This page is for recording precise durations of single pairs of ingredients, mainly so that they can be used to determine coordinates. Less precise information, especially recipes with useful stats, can be listed on the Recipes/Bastet page.

Potency of additive affects duration, and these can change over time. We should recheck potency for each batch of tests using that additive.

Method

To determine accurate distances between ingredients, it would be nice to measure durations to within a second. Sufficiently high Gastronomy skill (14+) allows evaluating exact durations, but otherwise they can only be estimated. A procedure for estimating:

Have both a stopwatch and the game clock, if possible close to your ATITD stats panel.

Cook up the meal, and eat just after the game clock ticks over to a new minute. Note that start time in game minutes (call it M1). Watch until your stats return to normal, then start the stopwatch. Stop the watch when the next game minute ticks over (call it M2). If the game hour changed, add 60 minutes to M2.

Duration = (M2 - M1) x 20 - Stopwatch.

For example, I eat a meal at 3:24pm game time. When the stats wear off, I start the stopwatch. The next game minute ticks over to 3:38 after 7 real seconds. So then

Duration = (38-24)x20 - 7 = 273 seconds.

These are based on a system where cabbage is at (0,0) by definiton, leeks on the +X-axis, and honey on the +Y side. As many more ingredients become known, it may be useful to change reference points. Potency is a guide only - it changes over time.
