For example, if a mutagen range is that it will swap a gene at 10%. Given a genome of length 16, 10% along is between gene 1 and 2. Does it pick the closer gene (in that case, gene 2) or is it a floor rounding function? (that would truncate the extra %, and round down to gene 1).  Or does it pick randomly between the two genes?  Knowing this is important! I am assuming here it picks the closer gene, but further tests might reveal the actual rounding method.

After scouring past mutagenic notes, its come to my attention that the previous tales mutagenic experts used the ceiling function as their rounding method. I am not sure why they choose this (whether it was a data driven decision or a guess). However, I have re-evaluated some of our Tale 5 data that seemed inconsistent. Specifically, some tests that yielded non-overlapping ranges, given our range method calculations. Using the ceiling function approach gave consistent data!  This may be a mistake, but I am updating all my calculations to the Ceiling Function Rounding method of previous tales.
 
 
 
Ceiling Floor Function:
 
This means that the rounding function will always round UP to the next whole number.

Greetings!

Originally from the Bastet server, I transfered to Tale 5 with some friends. (Now we form the Bastet Hounds Guild). My primary passion in Egypt is glassblowing and glassmaking. I also enjoy the Test of Pyrotechnics, Thought puzzles, and crossbreeding flowers. I am always open to helping people in any way that I can, so please chat me anytime. Glass Services

I sell most glass products, but I do not use a trading point system. I prefer to work out a trade that is fair and considered what the buyer has available to trade. My products include:

  • Thermometers
  • Barometers (5k, 6k quality)
  • Hookah bowls (will assemble into finished hookah with your 14 canvas)
  • Chemistry Calibration kits
  • Distillation Coils 7.5k quality
  • Wine glasses (sorry 8k quality and down, I need more practice)
  • Mirrors (with your 200 silver powder though)

Star Labs

I am hoping to help Egypt make better use of its Portable Star Labs. I see so many of them laying around unused, or used as decorations. They are meant to be used and returned to a university of Art (preferably Sterope). I have a Law Petition circulating to help us use them more effectively. Please remember they are used for opening new Star recipes only...they are NOT part of the Principle or Test of Pyrotechnics!! They are given out in a limited amount, so they are a precious resource.
