If someone knows how to format this spreadsheet, could we include a column for "Level Available"... would cut down on run time checking universities that have nothing ready for you yet. ~~thanks.

This page is designed to show the path needed to reach a certain technology, to make it available for research. Check the Levels page for information on which techs are available at each level. If you want to know what techs are available in each region, try the Research by Region page, or check the individual research pages for each region.

Comment about Fine Casting (Bastet): In Shabbat Ab, Fine Casting is available for research, however Basic Chem isn't open there. The tech tree shows that both Adv Metallurgy and Basic Chem are required. This is incorrect for Bastet, and presumably the main shard.

Basic Chemistry is listed as a materials requirement (column 4) for Fine Casting, not a prerequisite to list it for donation (column 3). Fine Casting requires donation of powdered gems, which means that somewhere in Egypt, Basic Chem must be open (to allow construction of chem labs, where gems can be powdered.) It does not mean that Basic Chem must be open in the region working on the tech. Hope that helps. --Shebi 16:52, 3 May 2010 (EST)
  • Advanced Animal Husbandry requires Vegetables and Vegetable Seeds, which means Agriculture is a material requirement (Fluclo_Bastet 09:08, 16 May 2010 (EST))
  • Modern Sheep Farming requires Rigid Black Boards, which means Wood Treatment is a material requirement. (Fluclo_Bastet 09:12, 16 May 2010 (EST))
Modern Sheep Farming also requires Thistle Gardening, which itself requires Wood Treatment, so it doesn't need to be listed again.
  • Ambrosia Brewing requires flavored honey, which stems from Indonesian Bee Care, which requires Honey, hence Beekeeping is a material requirement. (Fluclo_Bastet 10:14, 16 May 2010 (EST))
Similarly, Ambrosia Brewing requires Beer Brewing, which requires Beekeeping. So that also is covered transitively.
  • Herbiculture requires various moss, which needs the Test of Life, which needs Raeli Pottery and Wood Treatment, hence both should be a material requirement. (Fluclo_Bastet 11:22, 16 May 2010 (EST))
  • Mining requires Stonecutting to be open in the region, not just open in the world for mats as was indicated.
