Formerly known as Wadjet
Kemiu means black cat. I synthesised it from other known Egyptian names, specifically the prefix from Kemsa (black man), Kemosiri (black Osiris), and Kemnebi (black panther), with the element miu meaning a cat as found in such names as Pamiu (likely Pa-miu), "old tom-cat".
