Cats in Egypt
Cats can be created by designated Cat Ladies (and men).
Current Cat Ladies are:

  • Disintoxication (Seven Lakes)
  • ReddRuby (Seven Lakes)
  • Asheara -DEV (River Plains)
  • KalmKitty (Midland Valley)
  • Puffs (Old Egypt)

Cats will follow their owners everywhere, even if you warp or go for a dip in the Nile (although they don't swim, they just run across the top of the water). On logout the cat will go into your inventory (per Pharaoh via Tribisha/Pharaoh conversation)
T6 Suggestions: If you have suggestions for, or about cats please type them in below:

Current T6 Informations about pricing. (Sizes, patterns, colors, meow type etc.)

OLD T5 WIKI INFORMATIONS.

Pricing

Tabby2.jpg
Tabby $25-
Bengal.jpg
Bengal $75-
"Cats come in different shapes, colors and sizes. Depending on these and the 'rarity' of a cat's trait your cat may cost as little as $25.00 or more. Each rare trait will cost additional. Basically, the larger and more oddly colored the cat, the more it costs. The Bengal pattern is 'rare' and significantly more expensive. For example, a small (Desert) Bengal is $75, while a small Mackeral Tabby is $25.

Cat types
The base patterns are:

color options)

Sizes
From smallest to largest: River, Desert, Woodland, Grassland, Savannah, Coastal, and Jungle. Jungle size is huge, like a lion, but only a dev can breed these (likely due to cost). The larger the cat, the more expensive it will get.

River.jpg River
(tiny)$25
Desert.jpgDesert
(small)$25
Woodland.jpgWoodland
(medium)$25
Grassland.jpgGrassland
(med. large)$35
Savanna.jpgSavanna
(large)$75
Coastal.jpgCoastal
(ex. large)$150
Jungle.jpgJungle!
(pony sized) $300

Note: Size prices do NOT include rarity pricing-that will cost you additional.
Color
Most 'normal' cat colors are available, plus some pretty strange ones (see some Tuxedo colors below). The more 'rarely' colored, or unnatural the color (like purple), the more the cats will tend to be. Some patterns don't allow for color to show very well, like the Bengal and Havanna.

How do you get one?
Contact one of the 'cat' people in game. You can then visit the cathouse and various cats can be bred for you to see before you purchase one. You only purchase when you find the cat that is perfect for you in your Egyptian adventures.

FAQ
Can I put my cat in my pocket?: Yes you can pick your pet up at any time. To put in down again, simply drop from your inventory drop menu.
What happens when you warp, will your cat come with you?: Yes, your cat will travel with you both warping and if you swim a river. He/she will follow you throughout Egypt.
What is this 'pet' option? If you pet your cat he/she will sit down and perhaps do a bit of a trick or clean, and stay in one spot for a bit.
What happens when you log? When you log your cat with go to you inventory and the next time you come back to Egypt you will need to drop him/her on the ground again.

Some comments from Teppy on ownership and usage: (Dec 19th, 2010)
Pharaoh: Ok, I've made some changes. Here's how it now works:
Pharaoh: When a person drops a cat, it follows them until they log off, at which point the cat goes into their inventory...
Pharaoh: Ownership is separate, and controls who can pick a cat up.
Pharaoh: So if you give a cat to someone (change ownership), they can pick the cat up, put it down, etc.
Pharaoh: Guild owned cats should also work, but the cat will stay with whoever last put it down.
Pharaoh: And when that person logs out, the cat will go into their inventory.
Pharaoh: Cats won't stay in Egypt when their master (person who last put them down) logs off. That was intentional because otherwise we'd end up with herds of meowing cats, and they'd wander, get lost, etc.
Pharaoh: I think I may need to add a "let cat into the guild hall" to deal with the case where a guild member wants to "borrow" a cat and then put it back in the guild hall.
Pharaoh: You can already take a cat out of a guild hall if you're an elder. (Or whatever level it is that allows taking from guilds.)
Pharaoh: It's still an owned object, and can be removed from a GH without changing ownership.

Please add your questions about your cat below and we will try to get them addressed

Do you have suggestions for the 'cat' option? Please make them reasonable - cats are not going to learn how do run your cc hearth!

Lots of folks have been asking about allowing other people to pet your cat without making the cat public. It'd be a great selling point, I think, letting people experience the full range of cuteness before they buy.... --Dachannien

A cat should be able to catch desert rats, thus replacing a desert rat trap. This is just my opinion. -Solaris

Also be able to catch fish too - Fez
