Moderators for L2PBS

/join L2PBS

Macro for modding the mic, written by Daniels.

1. Download and unzip the following (contains 2 files): http://www.atitd.org/wiki/tale6/images/6/61/Micmod.zip

2. Double click on the Micmod.ahk file.

3. Position the mic board window to somewhere convenient. Hover your mouse over the first post's "p" icon, press CTRL-ALT-M.

4. Once you move the mouse away from the "p" icon, the macro will begin posting. The macro will wait 6 seconds to post each comment, giving the moderator enough time to pause the macro if necessary.

4. To Pause the macro, press CTRL-ALT-P. Again to Resume the macro. To Reload the macro, press CTRL-ALT-R.

5. To quit the macro, find the green "H" in the system tray (bottom right of the Windows bar), right click the green "H", and click "Exit".

6. If the mic board window moves, hover your mouse over the first "p" and press CTRL-ALT-R.

Mod Instructions

The PBS and Bazaar Mics are controlled by the same guild. The mics are located around the back of the guild hall in Old Egypt.

  • To pickup the boards, click on each microphone and choose to pickup the board. It will tell you the current mod using the board.
  • Once you have the boards, announce "I have the boards" in the LBP Mods channel. Then move away from the microphones before you talk in main or in PBS or Bazaar chat, otherwise the mics will immediately post what you say without it going through the control boards.
  • If there are very old posts on the PBS board, such as messages more than 30 minutes old, announce the age of the messages before you post them by saying "posts made up to 2 hours ago". This step is not necessary on the Bazaar board as trades often linger for hours and days before they they are completed.
  • If you need to go afk for 10 or 15 minutes or less, it's ok. Just turn off the posting macro, if you are using it, and go afk. The posts can wait until you get back. You don't need to make an announcement unless Egypt is currently in the middle of a posting frenzy. Then just announce on PBS that the mod is going afk for a little bit.
  • If you need to go afk for more than 15 minutes or you are logging soon, please ask for a replacement mod on LBP Mods channel. If no-one steps forward to replace you, post a message on PBS when you logout. The message should be something like "boards going down until a new mod comes along". You do NOT need to post this same message on Bazaar. It is a slower moving board and delays in messages are ok there.

Posting Guildlines

  • PBS and Bazaar are owned by the same elders but have very different posting guildlines for each channel
    • Each moderator should use his or her own discretion in deleting posts. If you are unsure whether to put through a specific post, put it on hold with the "S" button and then ask about the post in LBP mods channel. Here are some basic recommendations but they are not hard and fast rules.
  • PBS is an everything goes mic. We encourage free form banter and posts. Posts should rarely be censored.
    • Posts that are direct attacks of other players, using cursing and lots of insults.
    • Posts that are blank or contain gibberish characters (often made by children or pets hitting the keyboard or macros gone wrong) can be deleted.
    • Duplicate posts from the same poster, sometimes made in an attempt to spam the board can be deleted.
    • If PBS gets out of control with posting so fast that you can't even read them, then slow down the posts. Letting each post stay on the board for longer and longer takes the wind out of many arguments. Posting delays of up to two to three minutes can often calm down really heated arguments.

  • Bazaar is mainly meant for trades but can also be used for any other events that serve community interests -- such as notices of events and Egypt wide research status updates. We keep many posts off of Bazaar to prevent the board from scrolling quickly. This way players can check Bazaar in-game and see all the trades and events from the last few hours.
    • WTS and WTB posts are ok but don't post the jokes (WTB good moderator, etc)
    • Replies or clarifications about WTB or WTS should NOT be posted. You can, however, open up a chat with the person asking the questions and suggest they use PBS or chat the original trader.
    • Event announcements are ok as long as they aren't spammed too often. What's spam? If you can see the old message on the board and a duplicate of it comes through, then the duplicate is spam.
    • Casual talk should not go on Bazaar and should be deleted
    • Notices of new mods and board shutdowns don't need to go on Bazaar. They can go on PBS instead.
