Tech requirements to be limited to the technology open at the time the tree is built. The owner of the wishing tree has 7 game days to fulfil the wish. A maximum of 7 wishes can be held in the tree. Completed wishes are removed from the pool of waiting wishes in the tree, making room for a new wish to be added in the current weekUnfilled wishes become penalties that count towards the calculation of the test score.

The Test of the Wishing Tree and Well

Short Description When signed up for the test the player receives an option to Build a ‘wishing tree’ (something like the forest of light sculpture). When built any player can visit the tree to make a wish for another player (not themselves). The wish is for an object (gathered or constructed, held in inventory) to be given or transferred to another player.

The format may be something like ‘<Playername “wish initiator”> wishes that <Playername “wish recipient”> requests <select from object listdrop down> because <20 char alpha numeric>. For example: ‘Cate requests Balthazarr receive 1 gold ore for being helpful.’

Making a wish

  • Objects to be gifted are selected from drop down drawn at random from players inventory
  • A single player can only make a request at ONE tree until that request is fullfilled.
  • A player can only wish for an item to be given to another player if they hold the item in their personal inventory AND the player to be gifted is a current active account.
  • Players who are quit/expired players and players who have not logged in for the past 30 days cannot be granted a wish
  • A player can have one wish active at any time, ie. each person making requests can only have one outstanding request AND each wishing tree can only have one wish for a particular object (no duplications in items requested).
  • A wishing tree will hold a maximum of 7 wishes.
  • A wish stays active until fulfilled or it ‘times out’, say after 21 days.
  • Completed wishes are removed from the pool of waiting wishes in the tree, making room for a new wish to be added.

Fulfilling a wish request

  • The list of wishes is visible to the tree owner either in Test status or at the wishing tree.
  • A wish is fulfilled when the object is given to the nominated receiver by the wishing tree owner and the recipient acknowledges (yes/no) that they have received the item
  • The player on whose behalf a wish has been made (wish recipient) receives a popup message in main alerting them of the details. If they have any issues with the request, want the wish changed or cancelled, then the wish can be changed or deleted at the tree by the person who initiated the wish (wish initiator).
  • The wish initiator receives a message when the wish is fulfilled
  • The owner of the wishing tree has 21 game days to fulfil the wish, after which the wish ‘expires’.
  • To clear a spot for a new wish, the tree owner must either fulfil the wish or wait for the time out if unable to complete the wish.
  • The wish initiator can modify their wish or cancel it by returning to the tree and selecting an option to ‘modify’ or ‘delete’.
  • When a wish is fulfilled, the ‘wish submitter’ receives a token/chit which can be placed in a ‘wishing well’ of a player of their choice, not their own.

Wishing Well On completion of the first wish, the wishing tree owner receives the ability to build a ‘wishing well’. Wishing wells grow in size (1-7) as the number of chit/tokens are added by other players. Wells that have progressed are notified in weekly test passes (Owner and location).

Achieving Principle Principle is achieved when a tree is built, first wish is completed, well is constructed, and player receives first token. Wishing wells advance 1 level each time 7 chits/tokens have been deposited.

Test completion The test is complete when the wishing well advances through to size 7.

Considerations Leaders gain reputation and maintain status by working to assist others and influence the behaviour of others to ensure positive outcomes. If exploitive wishes are requested, the wishing tree owner may take the initiative to find out in game what has generated the issue and seek a resolution so that the wish can be fulfilled in a way that does not harm any player. DP intervention can be sought if persistent ‘blocking’ or anti-social behaviours are experienced.
