Public Buildings

In hopes of making DoN a more attractive destination for immigrants and more experienced players, I've made a selection of buildings in my compound at (1723, 6657) public for anyone to use. These include:

  • A Student Forge (with full upgrades: Extrusion Plate, Pinch Rollers, and Nail Mould)
  • A Master Forge
  • A Student Casting Box
  • A Master Casting Box
  • 4 Pottery Wheels
  • 10 Improved Brick Racks
  • 8 True Kilns
  • A Rock Saw
  • A Mason's Bench
  • A Charcoal Oven
  • A Hackling Rake
  • 7 Carpentry Benches with Carpentry blades. One has a Vise Bench upgrade (the odd one out; westernmost in the CP)
  • 5 Firepits (SSE of CP at (1736, 6629)

A couple of notes on the use of these buildings:

  • There are useful buildings I have that I'm a bit reluctant to make public since they either work while I'm offline (distaffs, tubs) or are useful for storage (Hand Loom). If they'd actually be used, I would consider either making those building public or making new public versions of them. Similarly, if extra copies of specific building could be useful (I'm specifically thinking of the student forge) I would consider creating and upgrading a new one of those.
  • If you use the buildings that wear out (Carpentry benches for boards, True Kilns, Hackling Rake) donations are welcome but not at all required. Please put them in the donations chest (NEmost chest in storage cluster near anvil).
  • If I find leftover mats in the buildings I'll put it in my mailbox (NEmost box in storage cluster near anvil, publicly usable) where it's available for anyone to pick up. If I can figure out who left it I'll chat them. But I'd recommend people don't count on this behavior; as these are public buildings, there's no guarantee mats will stay undisturbed in either my mailbox or the buildings themselves.
  • Similarly, if you find leftover mats in the buildings, they're probably mine, and if you'd put them in the donations box, I'd appreciate it.

Happy processing!
