Iron Ore/Mining

Mining Iron Ore is done by a "puzzle" where you are presented with 7 random stones.

Each stone will be one of three colours:
Red: Col-red.jpg
Yellow: Col-yel.jpg
Magenta: Col-mag.jpg
Each stone will have one of three types of crystals:
Spikey: Shape-spike.jpg
Squared: Shape-square.jpg
Hegagon: Shape-hex.jpg

You will need to create a group of three stones that meet the following two critera:

  • All three stones are of the same colour, or all three stones are one each of Red, Yellow and Magenta
  • All three stones have the same Crystal Shape, or all three stones are one each of Spikes, Squares and Hexagons.

So, taking a working example, we have:

Iron-query.jpg

  • Stone 1 is a Yellow colour with Square crystals
  • Stone 2 is a Yellow colour with Hexagon crystals
  • Stone 3 is a Magenta colour with Square crystals
  • Stone 4 is a Red colour with Square crystals
  • Stone 5 is a Red colour with Square crystals
  • Stone 6 is a Yellow colour with spiky crystals
  • Stone 7 is a Magenta colour with spiky crystals.

There are only two workloads here:

  • Stones 1, 3 and 4 - as they would all be different colours, and all have the same shape
  • Stones 1, 3 and 5 - as they would all be different colours, and all have the same shape

Sometimes you'll get a lucky break and have a lot of workloads, like in this example:

13-loads.jpg

  • Stone 1 is a Yellow colour with spiky crystals
  • Stone 2 is a Red colour with Hexagon crystals
  • Stone 3 is a Yellow colour with spiky crystals
  • Stone 4 is a Magenta colour with Square crystals
  • Stone 5 is a Red colour with Hexagon crystals
  • Stone 6 is a Magenta colour with Square crystals
  • Stone 7 is a Red colour with Hexagon crystals.

Here, you will find 13 workloads (Stones 124, 126, 145, 156, 147, 167, 257, 234, 236, 345, 356, 347 and 367).
