Fuzzy Prickly Reticulated

This page serves as a repository of research notes on Toxin OE09, the ninth mutagen unlocked in Old Egypt by Renard. It uses 7 Fuzzy, Prickly, Reticulated (Negative to Green, Hairy, Smelly) moss and 7 Acorn Cap, 1 Hairy Tooth, 2 Heaven's Torrent, 1 Iron Knot mushrooms.

First mutation test: L-Vampire R-Silken

The flowers appear to be unchanged, so an identical gene must have been swapped between the two lilies.

Second mutation test: L-Silken R-Vampire

Silken appears unchanged, but the Vampire outer stamen has had an IO allele replaced by IY. Hence, on the left splint, this mutagen affects a gene somewhat left of center.

Discussion and results

While the second test allows us to narrow down the gene affected on the left splint rather well, it also gives us a lot of information on the right splint when combined with the first test.

Based on the range from the second test, we know that either gene 5 or 6 on the vampire was affected, so an I or and O was swapped between the two lilies. If it was an O, that would require the right splint to be between 16.6-33.3%. On the vampire, that's genes 3 or 4, an IY which is inconsistent with the results of test 2!

Hence, an I was transferred between the two lilies, and on the right splint the gene affected is far to the right.

Left-Vampire 5(I)
Right-Vampire 12(O)

Third mutation test: L-Clarity, R-Delicate

A cyan has been lost from the outer north petals of Clarity, and Delicate has lost its dwarf size.

Fourth mutation test: L-Delicate, R-Clarity

A magenta has been lost from Delicate's outer stamen, replaced by cyan. A yellow has been lost from the outer north petals of Clarity.

Left-Delicate 6(O) Right-Clarity 34 or 35 (R)

Fifth mutation test: L-Delicate, R-Crown
