Wine/Finding Your Phenotype

Finding the Phenotype when the Tends by Phenotype table is empty

Begin by planting your unknown phenotype vine and waiting two hours so that you can harvest a vine cutting before you begin. You wouldn't want to lose a vinyard to a mis-click or bad assumption. Once you have your spare vine cutting safely stashed away, pick a tend that you think will give good results based on what you think the phenotype might be, and write down the results in a blank tend table. Continue doing this until you have filled in the entire tend table. Once you have filled in the Tend table for your vine, find the most negative and most positive values for each vine attribute.

If they range from -3 to +4, the vine is Wild in that attribute.
If they range from -6 to +8, the vine is Single mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -9 to +12, the vine is Double mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -12 to +16, the vine is Triple mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -15 to +20, the vine is Quadruple mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -18 to +24, the vine is 5x mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -21 to +28, the vine is 6x mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -24 to +32, the vine is 7x mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -27 to +36, the vine is 8x mutation in that attribute.
If they range from -30 to +40, the vine is 9x mutation in that attribute.

For Vigor, it's slightly different.
If it ranges from -14 to -1 the vine is Wild Vigor.
If it ranges from -13 to -1 the vine is Single mutation Vigor.
If it ranges from -12 to -1 the vine is Double mutation Vigor.
If it ranges from -11 to -1 the vine is Triple mutation Vigor.

Finding the Phenotype when the Tends by Phenotype table is complete

Again, make sure to have a spare vine cutting in case your first tend kills the vine. If you're reading this section, chances are you have a crossbred vine, and nobody like repeating work done. Start with the assumption that the vine is Wild in all attributes. Tend appropriately, and note the results. Try to find unique results on the Tends by Phenotype table that eliminate possibilities for your vine, even if they are obviously not optimal tends. In my experience, you will probably find that within 2-4 tends you can positively identify the mutation states of all attributes.
