Madlabs

My 1st few steps into chem-labs was daunting, this is a partial-self reminder & perhaps a learning tool for others.

1st thing to find, is your ultimate goal:

-- What kind of compound? Gebs, Set, Maat, Osiris, Ra, Thoth

Goto the bench & click it in like you've got everything...

it will tell you what you need. Sweet, salty etc ... --- +++

2nd Launch VT Chemistry Helper & see if it can help you formulate essences. Great tool, gives you several possibilities.

IF no possibilities are available, you will need to make another grade of compound, or use another bench. This happened to me when I was trying to make my 2nd batch of Osiris for Lubricating Oil. The end result was that no combinations were discovered at this point for the ++ -- Bitter / Sweet (or whatever I needed) .. so as a result, I made a batch of Set's ... and it turned out .. at that time, there were no combinations available for the Ra's combination I had ... or the Maat, or Thoth ... If the Set's was unknown, I would have had to get litmus paper, or just wait.

3rd, make your essences:

  • Note before starting, it's good to have a healthy batch of Spirits. I avoid recipes that require Wood/beer spirits, but sometimes there's no way around it, so I've had to step up the beer game.

Part A -- prep -- you'll need at least 20 of each item (resin, herb, gem, powder) for essences, as they take 10/ batch & with fire spirits you get 6 drops per run, but need 7 to create an essential compound.

Part B -- Processing: Use two parts of the Lab : essential Distillation & Alcohol Lamp (can't be seen w/o spirits).

Distillation, you place item Alcohol Lamp, Add Spirits

Part C -- Actually Manufacture the essence

Now that both the item & lamp are ready, go back to Essential Distillation & click "Start"
  Wait 2 minutes & WALLAH!
 1/2 down & 19 more to go

(yes, you will probably need to do the entire process twice to get your total result) This is because you get 3 "osiris compound" for the whole shabang & what you really want is 5.

4th & lastly ... Process your essences.

    • At this point, I like to make sure the only essences in my inventory match all the ones on the VT formulation chem_helper.lau.

Then form the compound, I like to give it a nickname like Osiris Sa Sw ++ --. It really won't go on the shelf, it's like a good burger joint . . . made to order.

Then make compound & point to the essential compound.

Badda-boom, badda-bing.
