Griefing and Inconsiderate Game Play

If there is one thing that truly annoys me about some people is how inconsiderate they can be to others. It would seem as though being anonymous on the internet somehow gives them the right to do what they would never do in public or with their family or friends. On the contrary, in my opinion the true test and worth of a person lies in what he does in the seclusion of anonymity. If a person rises to the level of society’s expectations when no one is around to judge then they are truly more worthy of respect then others that may act upon their baser instincts.

The developers have an obligation to their player base to protect the majority of the players from the griefing of a few. Whether through better game design or intervention, the developer owes it to his loyal player base to ensure the players can enjoy themselves without having to worry needlessly, or worse, suffer from the griefing of a single player or small band of likeminded antisocial types.

I have played many MMOs and have left them because of the rude actions and sometimes childish behavior of a few that detract from my enjoyment and pleasure. I would pray that ATITD does not follow along this same course.

I know that some people cannot help themselves and will always be jerks no matter their age. The school yard bully will always try to act out that aggression and dominant behavior. This game, more than others, depends upon people working together for the better good. Let us hope that this spirit will eventually win out over the mindless actions of a few morons.

I HAVE LEFT THE GAME NEVER TO RETURN...

About Me - Level 11 / Initiate of Seven

I did not play in either T1 or T2, unaware and oblivious unfortunately. I joined about mid-way through T3, but was more a casual solo player in the beginning. I returned to the game and started to get into it once again by joining a guild and enjoyed the game until R/L got in the way. I never passed a test in T3 and I am looking forward to getting a good fresh start with T4. Being a part of the beginning of this Tale has me excited.

In T3 I was a very active pappy supplier, using pappy as currency to barter and trade for the items I needed. I assume this will continue in T4 - so place your orders early. BTW... found a fantastic spot near my CP that outproduces anything I managed to get in my old haunt in 7L.

I am currently living in Meroe, at Zoser's Riverview Hideaway at 807, -3758 (see map below), just a 10-second jog south of the CS. It's a peaceful place on the West bank of the Nile. I am currently building up my CP and stocking it with a wide range of buildings and resources and managed to get two sheep pens working with 3 mating pair each and managed to coax three camels, unfortunately all females, into my camel pen. I am now harvesting grass, making straw, and stocking the pen in hopes of getting a male soon. BTW... two of the female camels cost 13.9k straw each and the third cost me 14.6k - ouch. I have slaughtered one of the three females since they consume so much straw during a time when I am trying to stockpile to get a male.

History Lesson

Zoser was the second King of Egypt in the Third Dynasty, ruling for 19-years (2667-2648 BCE). His official name was Netjerykhet. His brother, Sanakht, preceeded him to the throne and was the first King of the Third Dynasty. His father, Khasekhemwy, was the last King closing out the Second Dynasty of rulers in Egypt.

So when you see me coming, bow down and hail the King!!!

Legal Stuff

I currently have sponsored a petition - Tadpole to Jumping Frog

  • Stats:
    • Petitioners: 9
    • Signatures: 168 so far
    • Legal Opinion: Game Idea
    • Status: Still Open

"Oh Great and Mighty Pharaoh, we beseech you, allow the poor tadpole of this great land to become frogs under our careful watch and let them grow strong legs. We need more diversions in this great land. You gave us the mighty beetle to cultivate and display and now we ask that we be given frogs to cultivate from tadpoles, train and then have them compete with one another for trivial pursuits and perhaps treasure.
"We ask that you allow tadpoles to be captured and placed in acquariums so we can feed and breed them into mighty jumping frogs. Not all tadpoles would be worthy of this distinction and would fail in domestication. The failure rate would be high, but the few that make it into jumping frogs could go on to become masters of the jump and compete with our fellow Egyptians' frogs.
"Build upon the same principles of the beetle and give us cultivation control over tadpoles so they may become their jumping brethren.
"A simple diversion of sorts, don't you think oh Mighty Pharaoh".

If you want a copy of this petition then give me a chat in-game.

  • Initation - Principles of Architecture: Completed
  • Obelisk: Principle Completed
  • Test of the Obelisk: an inconsiderate so-and-so jumped the queue in HG and planted a 41 cubit Obelisk - thank you for destroying the game for so many others - therefore, I will NOT be doing this test. As to whether I continue to play has yet to be decided.
