Vegetables

Garlic

Still looking for a garlic spot but have been unable to find one that gives more than 1:1 yeild.

Onions

There appears to be a seam where onions go from high yield (X=2047 gives 12) to to low yield (X=2048 gives 5). This line runs north to south

The yield vaires going north and south along this line too.

Best spot available in Shabbat Ab is near the SBody in the east

Leeks

Leeks yield 8:1 on the sandy spot near my compound

Carrots

My growing time seems to be around 5am right next to my compound. Yields of 14:1 around this time.

Cabbage

No special yields yet

Papyrus

Papyrus grows well in the Nile in this area.

How To Grow Papyrus

  • Start at the bridge by the UArt.
  • Plant 1 papyrus sheaf every 10 coords running north along the west bank. Do this for 100 coords (10 sheaves).
  • Wait 10 minutes.
  • Start harvesting at the little sandy peninsula going north.
  • Harvest up to the bridge by the UThought just to be sure, then go across the Nile and harvest on the east bank.

This should yield about 80-90 papyrus.

To dry papyrus and get some seeds too, you need to dry it on a drying rack or flax hammock on a high mountain. The higher the better. You know you are high when you start hearing the wind blowing. There is a good spot with some racks on the sandy mountain west of the UArt.

Test of the Obelisk

I am in the queue to build a desert obelisk of 54 cubits. I have the materials but waiting for my queue spot to come up. Given that it takes about 3 real days to pass the test, I could expect to build my obelisk around 18 March 2009

I have the materials for a 54 cubit obelisk now and will keep it in storage until its my turn to build.
