The Test of the Bedouin is a special award given to those that prove themselves the best explorers of our land. When you visit an altar, anoint it with a drop of Cactus Sap. The longer that altar remains unanointed by others, the better. Every 24 hours, the best explorers will receive and advancement in the Test of the Bedouin.

The Test of the Bedouin is the third of the test in the Discipline of the Human Body. Your objective is to visit as many different Common Altars as possible and anoint them with cactus sap, in competition with other players. Progress in the test awards you with permanent increases to your Dexterity stat.

Test Details

Visit a University of Body to begin the Test of the Bedouin.

Once you have begun the test, you may anoint common altars with cactus sap. To anoint a common altar, make sure you have Cactus Sap in your inventory, then click on the Altar. A new menu entry, "Anoint this Altar with Cactus Sap", will display.

Every altar records the last three people to anoint it. Every minute, every altar gives one point to each of those three people. Every 24 hours (Real Day) there is an advance at approximately 1PM UTC., the top two point scorers for that time period receive one point of Dexterity and a popup message saying "You have placed in the top 2 Bedouin. You have done this N times". If the player is offline at the time, the message will be placed in their calendar.(If one of the top scorers already has seven points of Dexterity, they receive the message but no additional Dexterity.) (I believe this to be incorrect - the test does not seem to care how long the altar is anointed - only who has the most altars at the time of the pass - Tjut)

When you have successfully anointed an altar, your Main chat will report:

  • You have anointed this altar.

Attempting to anoint an altar when you are still one of the last three to have anointed will display:

  • You have already anointed this altar.

Progression

There is no in-game indication of your progress other than if you are placed in the top 2 for the day. You will then receive one of two notifications depending if you are online or offline at the time the progress is calculated. If you are online, you will receive a standard popup box saying "You have placed in the top 2 Bedouin. You have done this X time(s)." - this message stays on the screen for 5 minutes before disappearing. If you are offline, you will have a calendar entry.

Each time you are placed in the top 2, you receive a +1 DEX. This is in addition to the DEX received from the Test of the Acrobat.

A map of altars can be found on the Common Altar page.

Passing the Test

A player passes the Test of the Bedouin when they have received seven of these messages. After passing the test, the player gains the Bedouin Speed ability. When used, this grants a temporary +21 Dexterity bonus for around 30 seconds. This shows as a change in your native Dexterity on the stat page, not as a boost in green text like Cooking. This temporary boost has the effect of increasing offroad run speed significantly for the duration. This ability has a 10 minute cooldown, displayed as "Bed" in a similar manner to Acrobatics' "Acr" timer.
