Guilds/SACFAR

Who

SACFAR is the Shabbat Ab Council for Facilities and Research, located in scenic Shabbat Ab (the region our grandparents knew as Seven Lakes).

Why

  • To build and maintain public facilities.
  • To organize regional University research.

Shabbat Ab University Research

SACFAR as a guild provides a place for Shabbat Ab residents to organize research for University Technologies. More information to follow.

Research Goal

Our current research goal is to open all technologies that can be learned at level 7 or below. These technologies (and their prerequisites) are denoted by a green background on the research spreadsheet linked above.

SACFAR Facilities

Notes:

  • When new facilities are provided, there is often a queue to use them. Please only use them as long as you need to (and come back later for any extras you don't need yet). It's also a good idea to check on regional if stuff is in use.
  • You can check the Ownership menu of a building to see who was the last person to use it. But if there's stuff left behind, and no-one about, you could also just stash it in a SACFAR chest.
  • Everything except some chests and the flax factory (gins, large distaffs, autolooms) should be publically usable. Any box/chest/warehouse that you can stash in should be publically viewable. If you find something that isn't, please mention it so it can be fixed (it's easy to forget when building new things).
  • If there's something you'd like provided that we don't yet have (or we do have, but you think we should have more), and it's possible to build (based on current tech level and all), please get in touch.
  • Some buildings/tools will not be public (this means items like blacksmithing tools, metal treatment tanks once tongs are available, etc. You can either bring your own (in the case of tools) or see if a member is available)

General Workshop (1375,1740)

Our first workshop is at 1375,1740 (next to the road between CS and SArt). Cornerstone kindly loaned by Karriellyn.

  • 36x Pottery Wheel
  • 10x Reinforced Kiln (higher capacity than True Kilns; indestructible)
  • 20x Carpentry Shop (with carp blades until they're worn out, some spares are on hand, but you can BYO. If you have some spare metal to be made into blades, please donate) - One (next to chests) upgraded with a bench vise, for making Loom Frames/etc.
  • 36x Improved Brick Rack (note: these make 12 bricks at a time, not 6 like the flimsies. That's 432 bricks, or 144 straw, each cycle. Remember that if you use the sand/mud on site, your 144 db of straw becomes 432 db of bricks)
  • 1x mud/sand chest (so please refill it if it's low, and BYO straw/silt&wood for bricks, the rest is all here. Please don't stash anything else here)
  • 1x Hand Loom (these do not break twine. But remember to take your thread/twine home, or someone else will use it)
  • 3x Clinker Vat (One charcoal-fired, two petroleum-fired)
  • 1x Crematory (controls posted on a sign next to it)
  • 1x swap-meet box (leave stuff for other players to take. A few flint, twine, jugs, stuff like that

Metals Workshop (1385,1760)

Second workshop is a little up the road (closer to the CS), at 1385,1760. Cornerstone kindly loaned by Saffrian.

U-Cook (1400,1750)

Cornerstone donated by RosieRazor.

  • 5x Ceremonial Tasting Table, 2 with glasses, 2k-8k. Wines should be opened on the north tables first, beers on the southern tables
  • 2x Grain Oven
  • 7x Kitchen with iron cookpots - not emptyable by public. Expressions of interest for cooking for public are welcome. Feel free to cook here for your own projects, or cook food for passers-by
  • 12x Kettle
  • 8x Malting Tray
  • 2x Hookah, 6.8k
  • 4x Barrel Vise
  • 1x Public chest near the kettles, where you can stash firewood (or whatever else) while you fetch other mats
  • 1x Public chest, for seeds (Flax/Papyrus) and Vine Cutting. Feel free to take a few if you need them, and please bring some back if you have spares :)

Flax Factory (non-public)

The U-Cook is now home to the SACFAR flax factory (2 Flax Gins, 8 Large Distaffs, and 4 Automatic Looms). Due to the nature of these machines, it's not really feasible to make them publicly accessible. They will be used for University research and SACFAR facilities needs only, not for the personal projects of SACFAR members. If you wish to contribute to the large flax product requirements of local research, donations of flax to the donation warehouse would be much appreciated.

SACFAR Laboratories (1360,1740)

Cornerstone kindly loaned by iziz.
Further expansion will probably be predictable for those familiar with the sciences in Egypt.

Warehouse for Donations (1385,1745)

There is 1 small warehouse (quite likely we'll expand as needed) at 1385,1745 (between the workshops, next to the road), where you can stash donations.

Essence of Harmony (1388,1741)

Directly across the road from the Shrine of Conflict. At an Essence of Harmony you can review marriages, get a divorce, make predictions for test of the prophet, and likely participate in some of the future Harmony tests as well.

Shrine of Conflict (1382,1743)

These are used to participate in events in Wepwawet Spirit Arena. While such an event is taking place, you can use the shrine to send your spirit to the arena to compete, often for great prizes!

Clinker Pilgrim Shrine and Small Warehouse (1381,1746)

A pilgrimage shrine taking a tithe of 500 clinker, next to a public warehouse for clinker. Please stash clinker here rather than leaving it on the ground to pollute. And feel free to take as much as you like when you come to tithe (multiple tithes are welcome, as it's a way to store all that unwanted clinker)

Public Sheep Pen (1385,1749)

For all your Sheep stabbing needs!

Stone Phoenix: Endurance (1359,1728)

Polish the wings at dawn (0600-0700 Egypt time) for +3 Endurance for 3 Egypt hours (which is 1 teppy hour, or a bit over 1 RL hour).

Hookah at the CS

Information Booth (1405,1792)

A large blue "i" sculpture to represent the info booth (unfortunately, it can't be really close to the CS, and thread isn't large. Once we have raeli tiles, it'll likely be upgraded). Slightly to the west of the CS.
Please add sign posts pointing to any places of interest (with appropriate labels/info, of course).

Planned Facilities

We are, for the most part, up to date with technology. If you feel there are any expansions we should be considering, please let us know!

Non-SACFAR Facilities

While these facilities are not operated by SACFAR, it's hoped that providing a singular list will make it easier for people to find what they need (if you are not the owner of facilities which you find to be public, please consider if the owner wishes them to be listed before adding them. Public racks for papy are welcome to be listed. Some flax processing buildings far from town, where the few owners don't yet have a guildhall, shouldn't be listed).
Please update if you find the facilities have changed (e.g. new stuff built, stuff gone private, etc).

Drying Racks, 24 of (1258,1565)

Reasonably central in the region, but not as high as other places (hence good if you don't need every last seed). Near the East end of the hill range SW of SArt.

Drying Racks, 9 of (1279,2216)

Up in the mountains west of UThought. A bit of a run from most places, but higher up (hence more seeds).

Various buildings (1566, 1950)

The first SA Ironworks compound, now made all public.

Glassmaking CP (828,1505)

The Wanderers own a compound near the limestone. It is a bit of a run, but most of what you need is all there. Some of the equipment is guild-only, but much is public:

Thistle Gardens (1516, 1905)

40 public Thistle Gardens owned by Shabbaticals.

Other notes

Digging

Shabbat Ab digs (we've had a few already, we were the first with stonecutting open, we had enough stones for both stonecutting and stonemasonry on the first day of play) are often on the Nile bank, west of UArch. There's a large stone at 1420,2035 that makes a good meeting place/landmark.

Expansion and donations

Please send comments/queries/etc (or use the discussion page (one of the tabs at the top of every page)).
All donations are, naturally, quite welcome (especially of cornerstones; if you wish to contribute one (and it's perfectly fine if you want to donate one temporarily, until you need it yourself), please note it on this page or let someone know who can update it - you deserve the credit!).
If you're interested in joining, please sent a /chat (don't just apply without telling anyone; unless you're well known, we'll probably assume it's just another guild-collector)

Freelance Projects

Got an idea for something you'd like to try out, that would benefit the region/Egypt, but need some sponsorship/information/assistance? Get in contact, and maybe we can help you out!
